Chapter 2

Eight years later.............

I was in the kitchen preparing breakfast. I had to get the kids ready for school before their school bus arrives, I need to get to work early.

They were the result of what happened eight years ago. The one night stand with a stranger that I don't know where the f**k or who the f**k he is. It was an embarrassment not to know the father to my kids.

I wasn't able to tell my father about the children until I graduated from college.

He couldn't believe his eyes when he saw me on my graduation, I was seven months then.

My step mother as expected called me names on that day including my step sister. I left them and came to settle down on my own with my kids. They were my joy and hope. They are the best thing that ever happened to me since they came into this world.

I am glad I gave birth to them. Max and Mika.

I set their on the table for the them while they were getting ready for school.

Max walked into the kitchen playing his video game.

"Morning mum." His eyes were glued to the screen.

"Hey buddy. How was your night?" I asked pouring juice into their glass cup.

He shrugged. "Fine better than the ones I had when I was sharing my room with Mika." He sat down.

I smiled. "Happy to hear that. Where is your sister?"

"If she isn't here, then she is in her room." Max said.

"Okay, now out down that game and eat your breakfast while I go get your sister." I said and dropped the cartoon of juice.

He paused the game and dropped it on the table.

I left him eating his pancakes while I go get Mika.

I entered her room and saw her staring at the mirror, she was checking her outfit.

"Hey baby." I greeted as I walked to her.

"Morning mum." She greeted. "Am sorry am getting ready late, just trying to get a perfect outfit."

"What wrong with the one you're wearing?" I asked.

"Hmm I don't know." She replied staring at the mirror.

Mika was the type that perfer dressing like Tom boy. I tried getting something different but she won't were them.

"Do you like my outfit?" She asked gazing at me. Her warm blue orbs was beautiful gazing at me and it felt warm staring at her eyes.

Max has my kind of eyes, the forest green eyes.

"Yeah honey, I love your outfit." I said as I spuat. "Breakfast is ready and your brother his eating his."

She smiled. "Okay let go."

I pecked her cheeks and stood up. I held her hand and we walked out of the bedroom together.

We went to the kitchen, Max was busy playing his video game.

"What did I say about that video game you're playing?"I asked

"Uhhh, I was done already." He lied.

"Okay that it Max, no video game through out today."

"Mum." He wailed.

"Finish up kids, your school bus will be here soon." I said and left the kitchen.

I went to my bedroom to get my purse and also brush my hair.

When I came out the kids were ready to leave for school.

That when their school bus arrived.

I got to work on time for my shift.

I went to the locker room to change into my work outfit.

"Hey ladies." I greeted. Seeing Erika and Eva also putting on their work outfits.

"Wassup babe." Erika and Eva greeted unison.

I opened my locker and take out my outfit. I put it on and wore my apron.

The restaurant where I work makes coffee and dessert. It a popular place to buy coffee and dessert. And it also a busy place too.

"Ariana, go take order from table four." I was instructed.

I walked to the table where tow ladies sat down.

"Good morning, can I get your order?"I asked politely.

"We will have two cup of latte and the vanilla pie." The blonde said.

"Okay, coming right up." I said and left.

I reported to the kitchen and get the orders for the ladies. I walked back to them and dropped what they ordered.

It lunch hour, I have to go pick up my kids from school. I was already late again.

I went to the locker room to change my outfit.

"I'm off now." I said grabbing my purse.

"Okay, save you guys some donuts and cupcakes." Eva said smiling.

"Okay." I left the locker room. I took permission to leave before leaving the restaurant.

I to my kids school to get them.

"Hey kiddo." I greeted as I saw them waiting for me at the playground in their school. They sat down together on a bench.

"Mum, your late." Max said as he glance at me.

"Sorry, I had to take care of some customers before coming here." I said.

They stood up from the bench.

"That fine, can we go now. I am hungry." Mika said.

I took their bag packs and led the way out of the school.

"Mum, can we go get ice-cream?" Max asked gazing up at me with his cute puppy dog eyes.

I smiled. "That was actually what I thought of before coming here."

"So that means we going to get ice-cream." Mika said trying to confirm.

I nodded. "Yeah we are."

"Yeah." They said cheerily.

That made me chuckled.

I got a cab and we entered.

We stopped to get ice-cream before heading back to the restaurant.

They kids stays with me in the restaurant and we all go home at the same time. They don't like baby sitter, they prefer staying in the restaurant with me and the staff working in the restaurant love them.

The boss doesn't have any issues with that because he is Eva's cousin.

"Who do we have ever here?"Marco, my colleague asked as he saw the kids entered the locker room.

"Uncle Marco." They said uniformly as they went to give him a hug.

"How was school?" Marco asked them.

"Fine."

"Boring."

Yeah Mika doesn't like school because she thinks her classmates doesn't like her. She hardly along with kids her own age I don't know where she get that from.

Max on the other hand like everyone school, his class like him and I allowed him to hang out with them during weekends.

"Well I know what could cheer you up." Maco said grinning. "What about some Marco's tacos?"

"That sounds yummy, is it another recipe you of yours?" Max asked.

Max wants to be chief when he grows up while Mika doesn't know yet but she likes barking with Eva.

"Yeah it is. And I would like you two to me my first judges." Maco said.

"Now that my thing." Mika said smiling.

"Okay let go. See you later Ariana." Marco said then went off with the kids.

"I think Maco has won the heart of your kids." Erika said as she sneak up to me.

I got startled. "I told to stop doing that."

She furrowed her brows. "Stop doing what?"

I ignored her and went to change into work outfit.

"Maco is a good guy." Erika said gazing at me. I know where this conversation was heading to but I don't want to be part of it.

"I know." I said.

"What keeping you from making a move?"

"What move, Erika?"

"Going out with him, you have refused to go out on a date with him." She pointed out.

"Yeah because I don't have time to go in dates." I gave her the answer that I have always being given when ever Marco ask me to go on a date with him.

"Yeah you have kids to take care of, I know that excuse." Erika said. "But you could drop them at my place and go have fun with him."

"And yeah that was the fun that I had, and see where it got me." I said and walked out.

She knows I was referring to eight years ago.

I went to the kitchen and met Marco with the kids. Eva was with them too.

"Having fun?" I asked as I walked to them.

"Yeah we are." They said.

"Ohh that the harmbugger I got for you." Eva pointed at the harmbugger.

"Ewwn, thanks guys." I said. I took the harmbugger and began eating it.

Few minutes later, I went back to working.

And that how tmy shift end. I left early because I had to get the kids to do their assignments before going to bed.

When we got home, I went to prepare dinner while the kids do their assignments.

"Mum, Mika lost pencil." I heard Max yelled from the sitting room.

I came out of the kitchen and went to meet them.

"I told you I forgot it in school." Mika said boringly. She was done with her assignment already. She just sat down on the couch watching Max work on his Math assignment.

"No you lost it." Max said.

"You just want me to do your assignment for you that the reason you're reporting to mum about the pencil." Mika said.

"No am not, I can do my assignment myself."

"Then go ahead, am not doing that for you."

Max scoffed. "I just want my pencil."

"Okay, enough you two. Mika, tomorrow you have to give max his pencil." I said as I sat down on the couch beside Mika.

"But what if I don't find it,Mum?"Mika asked.

" Then you would have to admit you lost his pencil and apologize for doing that. "I said.

"But mum....."

"No, not any excuse from you." I cut her shut.

She glance at Max who stuck out his tongue mocking his sister.

"Max stop what you're doing and how back to your assignment. Dinner would be ready in ten minutes." I stood up and walked back to the kitchen.

When I done preparing dinner, I called for the kids to come have their dinner.

We all sat down at the table while Max led the face before eating.

When he was done, we began to eat.

After eating our dinner, the kids to shower while I do the dishes.

I went to check them in their room. They have fallen asleep when I got their. I kissed them goodnight and went to my room.
