Wake Up Call

Ridley's P.O.V. "Wake up, dear. It's your last day of your senior year, you don't want to be late." I pull the cover over my head pretending to ignore him, even though he knows better. It usually takes some time to get ready to start my daily routine so early in the morning, but I know it'll soon be worth it. "Come on, sleepyhead. Rise and shine. I'll go make you some breakfast while you get dressed." My dad wakes me up every morning for school. Mostly because I sleep past my alarms. But it's not that I don't want to go to school. I'm a straight A student with a 4.0 GPA. I also work a part-time job at a book store after school. It might not seem like a difficult job. I keep the books organized alphabetically by the authors last name, as well as run the register and keep inventory. If need be, I also order more books. I also keep the store clean, and I lock up every night at 11. It doesn't pay much, but it's enough to cover my bills. I pay my own car payment, order the books I'll need for college next semester, and I've even managed to afford new bedding and decorations for my dorm room and put a few dollars back every day. As soon as I get off work, I come home to eat a late dinner and study for school until I pass out from exhaustion. Sometimes, it's really overwhelming having to keep my grades up, manage the book store, and get enough sleep in between that and studying. That's why I usually sleep through my alarms every morning. I groan as I push the covers off of my body and make my way to my closet to choose what to wear today. I decided to go with dark blue skinny jeans, a black T-shirt, and my black converse. I get dressed and go to my bathroom to brush my teeth and my hair, and then I grab my backpack and make my way downstairs. As I near the bottom of the steps, I can smell cinnamon rolls and freshly brewed coffee coming from the kitchen. My dad always knows how to start my day off with a smile.
