Chapter 10 - You still come first

844 Words
For he past few days, Marco did not show up. He did not say anything after the competition for the Mr. and Ms. Stallion University. I received a lot of compliments from colleagues, friends and relatives. Mom was so proud for me. I have decided not to tell her because I don't want to cause that a glitch in Marco and her relationship. Mom has always been fond of Marco. She considers him as her real son. Until now, he might still not realize what he did wrong. For him, it could just be normal because no one comes first before Camille Rivero for him. Even it is hard to accept at first, I learned to accept that he is really willing to hurt me just to save Camille. During the days that I did not see Marco, I learned to settle with being second if that will make him stay. Because I missed a lot of laboratory reports and experiments, my Physics professor considered giving all those activities in one shot at this afternoon. Faye and Bleian wanted to help me, but I told them not to bother. Because it is Friday night, we decided to see each other in the mall after I finish this. For the mean ti me, they are in the library to do the homework due in the evening. "I have to attend a meeting. Will you be fine alone here?" Honestly, I can make this laboratory explode, but I nodded with a smile. "Yes, of course. The experiments are not that risky, Mrs. Reyes. Rest assured that I won't do anything stupid." There is nothing to worry about because the equipment counter is just across this room. If something unexpected happens, I can immediately ask for their help. "Okay. Submit the final lab reports on Monday. I won't be able to meet you on that day, so you can just put your work on my table. Is there any clarification?" I shook my head. I was so bored while doing all those experiments. I was searching for the pulley in that bunch of laobratory equipments when I heard the door closed. I almost caught my breath when I saw Marco came in. His facial expression was so serious when he walked to my direction. Can he be here? Who the hell cares? I don't want him here. I missed him, but I don't know how to react to him not that he's in front. "Need some help?" There was a small smile in his lips, but it immediately faded when I did not give him any answer. He pulled a chair and sat beside my chair. He put his phone on the table where I am working, and he faced me again. He looks problematic. Even I am mad, I still wonder what is going on with him right now, if he has a problem or if he is doing just fine. Either way, I want to hear his story. I tried to ignore him. His eyes followed me when I used the other direction to go back to my working place. He prepared the slide and the car that I will be using, so I put the pulley on the table and let out a sigh. "Can you please get out? You are distracting me." I glared at him. The first part of his face that my eyes saw was his lips. I am totally distracted right now. I have to roll my eyes and cross my arms on my chest just to give justice to the madness I am trying to show him. "In what way am I distracting you, Alisha? I'm going to help you... as my way of saying sorry." His lips flinched for a smile, but he pouted as if thinking of how to continue his reason. "I regret what I did. Sorry. I could not think properly when Camille said that she is going to break up with me. My mind can't handle that thought, Alisha. I cannot buy her with money because she has that. I could not think of any other way but the title of Ms. Stallion." He is deliberately taking about it, and somehow it torn me still. "If I did that to you, will that be alright, Marco?" He shook his head as he took a deep sigh. "I will get back to the man you chose over me. But that is not the case with you, Alisha. You know your capabilities. You know your worth, and no title can tell you who you are. You don't need that title..." "How did you know I did not need that, Marco? Do you even know how much I prepard for that? I'm sure you know. And with just a blink of an eye, you were able to turn those efforts into nothing. You are bluntly saying that she is more important than our 18 years of friendship." I remained calm although my eyes are showing defeat. When it comes to him, I am weak To be continued...
