CHAPTER 21

SAMAEL’S POINT OF VIEW “She is not an Angel, dude, but a witch. Did you see the things flying around? They are definitely taught sorceries up there.” Damien had his hands over his head, and his eyes were still filled with excitement and a hint of fear. Asmodeus excused himself and took the rest of the day off. We didn’t ask him where he was going as he looked to be in a pretty bad shape and some alone time would do him a lot of good. What Kiara said has put him in a dilemma and I am certain that he was devastated seeing Keres in such a bad condition. Leviathan, too, was shocked to see Kiara’s powers, and he was busy searching in the internet to see if Angels knew magic spells. “It has nothing to do with sorceries, Dam. She is just focusing on the elements around her and they listen to her. It’s some kind of scientific s**t. I think they are taught the methods to improve their concentration.” “And how do you know that?” Shit! Levi was eyeing at me skeptically, making me shift in my chair uncomfortably. I was solving a Sudoku in the newspaper and was too focused to think before talking. After everything that happened last evening, I assumed it would be better to not disclose about my eventful encounter with Kiara, but since I have never kept anything from my friends, I accidentally spilled the secret. I acted like his piercing stare did not affect me and just continued to scribble random numbers inside the empty columns. “Didn’t I tell you? Oh, I must have forgotten in the middle of everything. I met with Kiara yesterday at the library and saw her floating the books.” “What? You forgot to tell us something so important? Is that why you didn’t look that shocked when she started throwing things around?” I rolled my eyes, knowing how dramatic Damien can be; but what I couldn’t avoid was Levi, who was literally burning holes in my head. So I decided to not look at him for the time being, since it would be difficult to lie while making eye contact. ”I planned to tell you guys, but that’s when you and Asmodeus were busy having a bromance session, so I got off the topic. Now that you menton it, nothing special happened as I just saw her cleaning the Angel’s section of the library and I acted friendly towards her. That was our plan, right? She must have thought it was real and introduced herself properly, but declined my offer for a lunch before going back to her class.” ”She rejected you too? That b****h. It must have been hard for you to act nice to her.” I was still glancing at the paper, the numbers juggling in my head. I hummed to Damien’s question and hoped they would just pass onto another subject. I don’t know how long I can hold myself in front of Leviathan. ”It may not be much, but it was definitely not something easily forgettable.” I bit my lips in frustration and threw the paper on the floor before getting up to face Leviathan. “I just forgot, okay? You don’t have to make a big deal out of it. After all, it’s not like you tell me everything too.” ”What did I not tell you?” It seemed like he knew this talk would pop up in the near future and was waiting for a chance. I was already annoyed at him for being the only person who can touch Kiera, and now he was making it worse by smiling stupidly. ”You think I didn’t notice your recent changes? I can see f*****g clearly that you do not despise Kiera any more after she hugged you for a few seconds.” There! I said it and felt like a weight has shifted off my shoulders. “What the unholy f***? Who hugged who?” Damien was standing now, eyeing at both of us in utter bewilderment. We didn’t tell anything to Asmodeus and Damien, as they were already passed out from exhaustion by the time we returned, and the former didn’t sound like he would want to hear anything concerning Kiara once he woke up. “Me Dam. I was hugged by Kiara because she thought we had something special.” Leviathan had an obvious smirk on his lips, and it was irritating me as hell. He was trying to throw a bait at me and see if I would react the way he expected. We had known each other for years and he definitely believes that there was something I was withholding from him. Only the devil knows what his imagination has cooked up. I just stood there, waiting for him to complete his part of the story and not create a scene. But my displeasure was rising on hearing him saying that they have something special. It must be some glitch for hell’s sake; which sounds more practical than considering them as soulmates or such nonexistent s**t. “Why the hell would she hug you after portraying herself as a virgin Mary in front of others? I already knew that she was a w***e and now she has proved it.” I wanted to scream at Damien for being judgmental without knowing the entire situation, but then I asked myself why I was getting so vexed up? It’s not like I care how others see her or anything. All I want now is a proper explanation on why Leviathan was behaving weirdly towards the enemy. “She wasn’t trying to flirt with me, Dam. Apparently, angels and demons cannot make physical contact without getting electrocuted because of the energy collision. However, she could touch me with no problem but not others. She was just experimenting but then Samael came.” Leviathan paused for a second and turned to me with a knowing expression. ”So that’s what she meant when she told that you guys got hurt when you were in the library? I was so disoriented at that time that I didn’t grasp the full content. All I could hear were meaningless sentences.” I nodded my head carelessly, trying not to give much importance to that topic. If I have to tell everything, then I will have to reveal about her fainting and me waiting by her side for her to wake up. It will create unwanted misunderstandings, as I was usually not someone to help others when they are in need, especially if that person is on my red list. To avoid any further questions, it will be better to just brush it under the carpet. “Wait, does that mean we can hurt her but touching her? That’s great, isn’t it? We can just push her in the middle of a gathering and cause her immense pain.” “No.” “No.” Me and Leviathan exclaimed at the same time, and Damien raised his eyebrows at us. ”Did you not listen? Both the parties will be in pain during that time and I don’t think we should let our people suffer just because of a single girl.” 'Was that it?’ I wanted to ask Leviathan so badly, but just kept quiet because I was also not supporting Damien’s suggestion and I didn’t have a proper reply like my friend. ”And Samael, you were right about me not despising her anymore, but that doesn’t mean I accept her. Yesterday when she closed the distance between us I was stunned at first, but after a few seconds my old house became visible. I told you, didn’t I?” I shook my head, affirming him that I remember. “Besides the buried memories, I also felt like I was familiar with her smell and body. As if it wasn‘t the first time we hugged. But no matter how much I tried, I couldn’t recollect anything other than bits and pieces. For some reason, I think that she has played an important role in my past. Either she might know something about it or it must be fate. Right now I am not sure which sounds more rational. I couldn’t get myself to loathe her after that because memories that I cannot even properly remember tells me she is not someone whom I should hate.” “Why are you so adamant that she was literally connected to your past, and not just her energy making you feel that way?” I asked, not taking my eyes off of him. What he says doesn’t make any sense, but the sincerity in his eyes was genuine, making me hard to argue with him. ”Do you remember her first day? When she threw up and couldn’t even lift herself from the ground, father held her without any trouble. I didn’t look at her face back then, but I saw how she and Keres jumped away from each other this morning when Keres hugged her. I didn’t know what it was about at that time, but after what you said, that should have been her reaction when father pulled her up. But there was nothing. They didn’t even flinch. Now, we all know that my father is a hundred percent demon, but his touch did not affect her, just like mine. Isn’t there a connection now? And in those broken memories, I saw father smiling at me and there was another person beside me, someone who was little. It wasn’t an imagination because I could feel it in my bones. Something is not adding up and I will never get into its depth without her.” “But how was it possible? She is an Angel, and she could have never been in the underworld. She has been in the heaven all her life and I have heard that she has six brothers, that she is the youngest of them all. Above everything, she is Archangel Michael’s daughter and there is no way he would take his precious daughter to meetings in hell when he himself visits rarely. So how can you know her?” Damien was lost between our heated conversation but just stayed silent as he knew that it was pretty serious and he was sensible enough to not interfere. Leviathan bit his nails unconsciously, a habit he developed in childhood, and ran his fingers through his hair. Just then, he stopped and stared at us with wide eyes. “Guys?” We both had our complete attention on him, as he looked beyond perplexed. “Do you remember my real hair colour?” What kind of stupid question was that? He started dying his hair from the age of thirteen and have used a variety of colours. I remember him in yellow, brown, red, blue, orange and many more. Which one was real? Seeing that we were both lack of answers, he exhaled heavily. “It was silver blonde. The same colour as Kiara’s.” ........................
