KIARA’S POINT OF VIEW Me and Keres were lying on the freshly trimmed grass, staring at the full moon and its millions of starry friends. Our heads were placed on Asher’s body, who was calming us by his mere existence. After a series of cuss words and ‘I don’t know’, we finally withdrew to the basement as I felt too claustrophobic inside the four walls. “Did you check his energy? Maybe he was putting up a show.” Ker suggested and my mind went back and forth between the present and the past. “I don’t have a clue, Keres. His energy was neutralised and I couldn’t sense anything.” And yet, my inner mind knew that he wasn’t acting. The way his pupils got dilated and the thumping of his heart were all genuine. You can only pretend with your face and gestures, not with your internal organs.
