CHAPTER 6

SAMAEL’S POINT OF VIEW “What the hell?” I shouted, glaring at my mother in disbelief. Her face told me how serious she was, but I never thought she would actually side with this stupidity. If I remember correctly, she was the one who wanted me to take revenge in the name of all the fallen angels. What changed suddenly? “Your father does not want anything happening to that girl. As much as I am against this idea as well, you know that he wouldn’t take such a decision without valid reasons, right? Unfortunately, that’s all I can say now. The Angel girl should be safe, Samael. Or else...” I wasn’t afraid of seeing her red eyes, but the icy edge to her words always sent a chill down my spine. She was literally asking me to protect that b***h. As if... ............. “So, she is here for a reason.” Asmodeus murmured, scribbling something on the notepad he borrowed from Leviathan. He always jotted down random words when his mind was hazy and this was such an occasion. I flew back to the basement after that straining interaction with mother and saw my friends immersed in their phones. Without even asking, I knew what the topic was about. Apparently, the entire school came to know about the new student and the teachers had messaged concerned parents that it was just for an inspection and she was harmless. But after what mother told me, I doubted it. If it was just for annual inspections, then they would have sent some teachers or other Angels who are more powerful and experienced, not some teenage girl; and that too for one entire year? What kind of inspection is that? “I bet the council is on their side. At first it will be one Angel and then ten, and finally they will take over our entire realm. F*****g a******s.” Damien growled and hit his fist on the wall. He had called his mother regarding the news as well, but she said that she had no idea about it. It is not a new thing for demons to lie, but she was always honest with her son. And it is hard to believe that a person who is a chief Board Member in the school administration has no clue about the new admission. “I am sure they closed down the school for her arrival. What are they doing? Painting the whole place white? Or paving carpets for her highness?” Asmodeus asked, sighing in frustration. Leviathan was the only one who didn’t take part in the conversation and we were not surprised. He always had his emotions collected and never rambled like us idiots. But we all know that he is capable of anything he sets his mind on. That’s why I turned to him for help as a last resort. “You have any idea, Levi? We can’t let this happen.” He was staring at the unconscious soul for a long time and nodded his head very slowly. All three of us suddenly rounded him, waiting patiently for him to say something. “We should give our Angel a welcoming party. Don’t you think so?” The way his lips turned into an evil smirk was enough for me to feel confident. I will not do any harm to her physically, but she will definitely run away from here on her own. Or we will make her run. **************** KIARA’S POINT OF VIEW Saying goodbye to everyone was harder than I thought. I always imagined that I would be happy to leave my over protective family, but it turns out I was wrong. The sudden thought of being alone in a new realm made me feel suffocated. I have never been on my own all my life and now I am abruptly thrown into the middle of monsters with just a pouch of arrows to save me. I am literally like a frog in the well, and imagine how it would be if that frog was forced to live in a pond full of piranhas. That’s my current situation. “Be safe, Kiara. We will make the necessary arrangements for you to send letters.” I hummed in response and hugged my oldest brother tightly. After father, he is the one who looked after me the most and I will forever remain his little sister. After that, I went and bid good bye to each and every one of my brothers personally, accepting whatever they said. When it came to Rachel and her tear-filled eyes, I couldn’t hold back any longer and a sob escaped my lips. She held me tightly and told me that everything would turn out fine. What would I do without her? Even though I do not have many friends, I never felt lonely because of this girl. Now that we will be separated, I realized how much Rachel made me happy. “Take care of Johnathan.” I whispered in her ear and tried to wink at her, but failed because of the tears. Aunt Esther, her partner and Uncle Gabriel too came in person to see me off, and I thanked them for their loving gestures. I was going to miss them all. Ezra would be accompanying me to the gates of hell along with a few of the Guardian angels, and I was so grateful to him for that. Father patted my head and placed a tender kiss on my forehead before helping me enter the sleek car. I asked him not to come with me to the End of the realm as it would create unwanted sentimental scenes and I didn’t want him to see me cry. “Stay happy, father. I will come back before you even realize it.” He didn’t give me a reply, but just squeezed my hand harder than usual. It must be painful for him to see me leave. I waved my hand at the line of Angels behind me until my transportation turned the corner. “Take some rest, Ara. Or you will exhaust yourself by overthinking.” Ezra told me as tears streamed down my cheeks and I laid my head on his shoulder, hoping to get some sleep. ............. I could feel the energy shifting inside my body and I knew that we were at the End of the realm. The positivity filled inside me and a ray of hope entered my clouded mind. The council chose me after seeing my abilities and I will never let them down. For the next fifteen minutes, I was extremely confident and the memories I made here made me so happy. However, the second we crossed the heaven, the confidence I had gained literally oozed out of my body. “We are circling the human world now. It may take longer than the actual time, since you are not allowed to enter the realm without graduating. Otherwise there was a straight road.” Ezra explained, as he saw the confusion in my eyes. I was fine a moment ago and now all my uncertainties have crashed down on me again. And the energy, too, was continuously fluctuating. I could feel the fight between negative auras and positive auras, and it was a tie. The mortal beings were really in the middle of hell and heaven. I wonder if the auras have ever defeated the other. Time passed in a blur with me sleeping half the time, unless there was a sudden shift in energy. The other guardians and Ezra looked fine with it, but not my newly experiencing body. “How much longer?” I asked, yawning and getting ready for another nap. “You will know it when we get there.” I nodded and closed my heavy eyelids. I may not be able to sleep peacefully once I reach the underworld, so it would be better to take advantage of the given opportunity. We don’t have to sleep every day like humans, but sleeping once in a week would definitely be refreshing. I didn’t know how long I had been dozing off, but I knew we were nearing the hell as my body started to feel so hot all of a sudden. “What is this?” I asked in my sleepy voice, and Ezra smiled at me sadly. “We are almost there, sister. The temperature will keep on increasing as we approach. But don’t worry, it will be bearable once we enter the gates.” I hate hot climate. Heaven has such a nice weather, where we will always be warm but never sweat. And winter is the best, especially when we celebrate the entire month as the Lord’s birthday. I wonder when I will experience all those golden moments again. Just like my brother said, the temperature rose on a steady level and I thought I was going to be burned alive by the time we reach the underworld. The first thing that stood out in the darkness was the large, dark red gates. It was just as the size of our golden gates, but it was sinister looking and the colour of blood gave me goosebumps. Should they be so dramatic? It would scare the souls so much. Ezra held my hand as our car stopped in front of the metal barriers and helped me out of the machine slowly. Two large demons came out of nowhere and I bit the insides of my cheeks to stop myself from screaming. They looked horrible with their grotesque figures and their eyes held so much anger and hatred. I want to go back. “The student will be our responsibility from now.” His voice echoed through the darkness, and it made me tremble with fear. Wait, what? Are they handing me over? “Can’t I drop her at school? She is not used to this place.” I have never seen Ezra looking so stern and bold before. Now I know why he was liked by everyone in his department. “No. The rules clearly state that you can’t.” Can’t this man see how terrified I am? I looked at Ezra with pleading eyes, but he shook his head in guilt. “The council didn’t give us further permission, Ara. Don’t worry, they will take care of you. Please, stay safe.” He hugged my still body and pushed me a little for me to keep going. I held my tears back and smiled at him before walking away with the demons. Devil’s High, here I come. ......................
