Misunderstanding

David's POV:

I signed the full deal and closed the file with force, letting them know how much irritated I'm. I came to my room with Alec being followed.

I loosened my necktie and opened the top two buttons.

It's been 6 days now, these bastards made us stay here till we sign the whole deal.

"Book a flight or take a private jet, I don't care but you need to be with Srivi tomorrow very in the morning"I ordered.

"Done" Alec nodded."But what about you?" he asked."won't you be coming?"

"Have something to deal with, I will be there as soon as possible, now go don't waste your time and pack the bags" I said. He nodded and left the room.

I closed my eyes and I can see her smiley face in my mind. "I will be back to you" I whispered.

SRIVI's POV:

Today counts 7 days I thought to myself. I gave a read to my assignment to check whether any changes can be made and I'm proud of myself, somehow I managed to get over him. I don't like him and now I won't let him disturb me.

I'm again alone today. Yesterday night out of the blue Kri booked a flight to India to visit her parents. She said she's missing home and I felt like it's fine, if she gonna be a little sane there and I made a mental note that I should talk to ray. There's something wrong for sure.

Sasha and Hans too went for a field trip today. I wanted to skip college today, but then I felt like it would be better to stay between people.

"Sri" Ray came coming towards me. "Where is Kri?" he asked while panting.

I got confused "What do you mean by where is Kri? She went to India, to visit her family" I answered.

"What?India?s**t" he said.

Okay, something is wrong for sure."What happened?"is everything ok? I asked being worried.

"Yeah, I guess. I will get back to you once I get hold of Kri" he said and left the place.

I tried calling Kri, but her phone is switched off Maybe she is still on the flight. I closed my eyes.

"Sri" I heard someone calling my name. Wait, this voice feels familiar. My eyes shot open. Alec, I turned around and found him running towards me. A safe feeling rushed inside me, I ran to him and hugged him tightly. I covered up my muffles which threatened to come out. I hit him hard on his chest.

"You dumb i***t, where were you? Do you know how worried I was? Do you even have any idea about what s**t my mind imagined every damn day? I thought you left me and worst of all I thought something ..." I pulled away from him and looked into his eyes, which are bewildered. I looked around in the hope to find him but he is nowhere in sight and my heart started beating fast.

"Where is he?" I asked keeping away all the * I dislike him* thoughts aside.

"He is with Scar, I mean he is not here, he is far away like in a different country" he stuttered."You know, I can't go into all the details" Alec said while scratching at the back of his head. I looked at him confused and my thoughts started to process.

He is with Scar, far away in a different country. Maybe having a good time with her. I felt hurt. I didn't like that, I didn't like what he said. I covered up my expression.

"Wow, he  is having some funny business with Scar, far away, so no one can disturb them?" I made it sound more like a statement.

"NO, no, no...you got it wrong," he said.

"I can understand Alec, I ain't a kid" I spoke.

"Wait, let me explain clearly. We went sign a deal and we wanted to return early but it wasn't possible and that deal took a week" he explained.

I looked at him "So, you are the only one here and why not he?" I asked.

"David said he got something to deal with," he said. "Moreover, he is the one who sent me here for your safety" Alec added. I look at him with a shocking expression.

"But why?" I asked with a low voice "Maybe because he is worried about you?" he said.

"But whY?" I found myself asking the same question again and I guess he got annoyed with it.

"I don't know, it is better if you ask that yourself directly" Alec chuckled.

"Hey, what is that in your hand," he asked. I hid my assignment in an instant.

"Now, I surely want to know what is that"he tried to snatch. I tried to fight him but I could not with my small body.

I felt anxiety while he is reading. What he must be thinking of me now? I can't explain to him that I started missing David and thinking all the s**t about falling for David and to avoid such s**t I filled my assignment with hate thoughts about him so that I will dislike him? I bit my lower lip.

"Don't get me wrong, I can explain..."I got cut in middle by Alec's words "seriously Sri? I did not expect this, You totally got him wrong. You don't really know what dak... David is like. What kind of human he is. He is beyond this stupid assignment"Alec with a Harsh tone.

Guilt rubbed all over me. I did not expect him to react like this and I did not know what more to say. So I stood silent.

"Sri, David..he is one good person. He is a sweetheart. You have no idea about what length he can go to just protect you. He is not what he shows to the outside world. Deep inside he got a different personality, a child." he looked at the assignment papers.

"You think he bought you like a s*** don't you?"Alec questioned me. I looked at him with a blurry vision.

"I will tell you what exactly happened that day. He never really like to attend such auctions and that day I forced him to come and we saw you there beaten, bruised, and unconscious. I don't know what made him buy... umm, Sorry. I mean to get you, maybe he knew you before.

There were people who got excited to get you. He got you for some million dollars so that none of those lusty morons could touch you. He made you free" Alec said.

Tears roll down my cheek by listening to his words. I nodded to him to continue.

"We took you to the mansion and you thought that we kidn*pped you and you're not ready to listen. You did all the things which tick David's nerves and he got angry and made you stay. He did not want you to evolve in Mafia, he wanted to let you go the very next day but due to the twist of fate, you had to stay behind. On the day when we took you to the party and killed x, just because he hurt you. Then half of the Underworld came to know about you.

That made David more worried about you. He worried that they may take you as his weakness and hurt you. When you left he became restless and was constantly worried. He was not himself and then he appointed few people for your safety, who constantly had their eyes on you" and I let out a gasp by hearing that. I looked around and then Alec chuckled.

"Even when you were in Mexico he was constantly worried about you and send me here to protect you" he ended.

"This is not David" he pointed at my assignment. I could not believe what I just heard. I can't process it. Why does he care about me? Is the only question running in my mind.

"I just said all this because I don't want you to misunderstand him and I can't stand when someone does that to my friend" he spoke.

I looked at him "can I ask you one question?"I said and he nodded.

"How do you know each other?"I asked.

"Well, how should I say that, it's when I was fifteen he found me and rescue me from my father. My dad was a drinker he used to hit my mum every day and one day my mum ran away leaving me behind. I stayed back with my dad and tried to keep up with him every day.

One day I failed miserably to save myself I hit my father and that made him angry and he tried to kill me that was the day when I first met David. He saved me from my father. Then we both started working together and slowly from friends we became a family. The only family we have is us" he replied.

I did not know how to react so I choose to ask another question.

"Why did he came into Mafia?"I asked out of curiosity.

Alec let out a laugh "it is better if you ask him directly and he answers. Now time to go be careful and call me if you want something" he retreated and after taking few steps he turned back" and it would be better if you change that"he pointed to my assignment.

I started to my apartment and the whole while my brain was filled with the thought of David.
