D A N I "Dani Lupe." He said gently, phrasing each letter making it seem like I did something wrong and I froze in my steps. I blinked my eyes in disbelief, I couldn't believe that he knew my first name and last name. He pushed his chair loudly, and walked towards me gently with a slight smirk on his face, when he arrived right in front of me, he twitched his lips, his eyes squinted as if he found his prey and was ready to devour. I shook in fear but tried to hide it deep down in me, it wasn't easy to get the dragon king to stare at you like you were the only one there but I tried being brave. Beads of sweat lingered around my forehead, as I breathed in and out to come my banging chest down. I glared at him with widened eyes but he didn't seem to get his eyes off mine. "What do you want from me?" I asked with gritted teeth, I stared at him blankly anxiously waiting for an answer. "Mate!" He said, his eyes flashing darkly as his hands rammed through my hair gently, making it feel warm, but no, never! I couldn't be caught trying to make the same mistake that broke me years ago. I hit his hands hard, pushing him away from me. He lifted his head, the smirk still fixated on his lips, he looked as though he was enjoying every moment of it. "You are not going anywhere." He yelled at the top of his voice. His voice sounded colder than before and it seemed to me that as he yelled, the whole building shook. His eyes turned darker, and his smirk deeper. I scoffed, "And who do you think you can scare?" I asked, my brows creased as I stared nonchalantly. I didn't care what he would do to me, the last thing he could do to me was kill me, and I simply didn't care since I was tired of this cruel world and wanted to just die and rest In peace. I have been played enough by Liam, used and commanded to do anything they wanted. I always try my best to please my enemies. I acted so naive then but not anymore. I won't be the usual toy that would be used anymore, I was already way smarter past that. "Never!" I retorted in an irritated way and continued, "I would never be your mate just to please others, I won't be your pleasure mate, Dante." I walked towards him slowly till my face slammed his in a wicked way, he seemed to be amused by my attitude. He moved backward, then clapped slowly, "Well done, Dani." He said and continued applauding. I didn't even care an ounce what he was doing, if it was bait to lure me to be his mate, it wasn't going to work. "Accept to be my fake mate for some time and I'll get you anything you want," He raised his hands in the air and continued, "Plus we can rule together wickedly until the contract time Is over." "Why me?" I asked out of the blue, I wondered why I was the only woman he saw out of everyone leaving in this pack and other packs. Besides, I wasn't that beautiful to begin with, because even my twin sister was more beautiful than I was. He chuckled slightly, "You're different, Dani Lupe." He spoke, and walked towards me again, cupping my chin with his huge hands. "Accept this offer, Dani. And you wouldn't regret it." • • • • D A N I I woke up to the sound of faint music playing lightly in the background. I yawned slightly, my eyes darting around the room. "What is going on?" I asked no one in particular as I continued staring around. I could hear silent chattering, probably from a far distance. Making me wonder what was going on. I stretched a little bit, getting up on my feet the moment I heard footsteps coming into my room. And in the next second, the door was pushed wide open to see a middle-aged woman who was completely different from yesterday. She wore a black gown accompanied by a black pair of earrings. Her flat shoes dazzled under the light bulb making it look so magnificent. Though she looked a little bit old, she was still a dazzling old woman. "Let's prepare for the grand ball, shall we?" She asked, and my eyes moved over to her hands. She held a pink floral gown that caught my eye since it had a bunch of pink flowers along with it. Her other hand was filled with jewelry and a shoe that shimmered under the dim light. I creased my brow, and turned my eye towards her, "What's going on here?" I asked, holding my head in check to see if it was all a dream again. She pointed the gown forward to me, and I held them in my hands. Her actions reminded me of my life with Liam. I was always dressed as the perfect Luna, the perfect Alpha's wife. "Wear this and come out to the grand ball, you will be needed soon." She winked, then fastened her pace outside. I stared at the pieces of clothing, jewelry, and shoes that I threw on the bed. I hissed under my breath but I had no other choice than to wear it. Besides, if I want to take revenge on everyone who deserved it, I have to do it grandly and follow everything the Dragon King says, no matter how hard it is! Minutes later, I walked into the Grand Ball in style, I packed my hair up in a bun, making some strands loose. I applied only lip gloss, but obviously, I still looked breathtaking. The floral gown surprisingly showed my shape making me look adorable to the eyes. My eyes shimmered under the light and the music matched with my steps. I walked elegantly in, only to be dragged harshly by an unknown hand. I glared, looking infuriated as I looked up at the person who gripped my hands so tight. It was Liam. Liam was the one who held my hands so tightly. What was he doing here? "We need to talk." He finally spoke, after scanning me for what seemed like forever.
