Chapter Three

1013 Words
The darkness is strong, and I can feel my pulse rushing hard, I try to sit up, but my head hurts too much. I struggle with the darkness, my lids trying to fight it off, I let out a groan even when my eyes are still closed, chapped against each other. And, then, I snapped my eyelids open, gazing around, widened and frightened, I recognized the smell, it was strong, like fire. Something dark is brewing up in my chest. I stood up from the huge soft bed that accommodated me immediately, rushing towards the curtain, before I flushed it open, gazing down the streets, something was different. I widened my eyes in reality, I was at the dragon king's house. I could feel the interior design, the huge tower. I was stuck in a tower. I remember somewhat last year when I came here, they warned me to stay away from the house. The dark lonely dragon king lived here, he was a threat to the werewolves, I could almost feel my skin rising, my heart pounding abnormally. Somebody, please help me. I wanted to cry, trying to keep the tears in check, but it wouldn't stop, it was brewing up right inside me. Someone just makes it stop. And, then I think about my ex-husband, the man I had divorced three years ago because my sister was coming back, how would she feel now? On top of the moon. I stared around the huge room, it smelled of fire, the sweet type of fire that was used to make crackers, the bed was huge, plushies of pillows etched on it. Why was I here? I tried to think; I couldn't remember anything, so I just pushed the thoughts elsewhere, my hands etched shakily around the railing. The door opened slightly, and I cracked my eyelids towards the entrance. A woman walked in, she was dressed simply, her gown and scarf etched perfectly on her body. She stopped, and we stared at each other for quite a long time, before she cleared her throat. "You are awake." She said like it was that easy to say. I closed my eyelids for a bit second, first of all, I had no idea of where I was. Secondly, this woman was treating me like I was some angel who descended from heaven. I snap my eyelids to look at her, a deep frown forming between my brows. "Can I know where I am, please? The room, everything?" She still stares at me, calm down, I didn't die. Did I die? She breathed heavily, her chest heaving up a bit, "This is the dragon's king abode." She said calmly. I relaxed, but then my pulse started racing, what the hell? Why was I at his house? When I was young, I heard tales about the dragon king, his fearless wings, his fangs, his horns, everything. Now, I was at his house. Why? "Can I ask why?" I tried to speak again, but now, I realize that my lips are salty, and my heart is still racing, for goodness sake, I have a degree in medicine, and I don't deserve to be treated this way. "I am sorry ma'am, but that's not my place to answer, however, I am here to take care of your other needs. Shall we start with your hair?" She rang the tiny bell and other maids flooded in. They took time to doll me up, they pinned my hair into a perfect bun, and I was dressed in a gown that had pearls embroidered around it. And, when I was done. They shoved layers of food down my throat. "Please eat up, the dragon king will join you any minute from now," She bowed, politely, and I wanted to tell her that I didn't need all this stuff, that I was just an ordinary werewolf, and that I wasn't even supposed to be here. I calmed down a bit, staring at the plates that rested on the small table. I picked up the spoon. It's okay, my life isn't falling apart. My phone chimed, and I realized that I had it on this entire time. A message from my friend, the only friend I had managed to make while being here. Cassie; Where are you? I am standing right outside your house with a bunch of groceries! My lips formed into a frown, and I didn't know what I was supposed to do, so I just stared at the message for so long, my eyes reading every piece, I was right here. In a tower, where the most fearful dragon king lived, and oh? He lived even much better than the Alpha himself. I typed; Me- I am at the dragon's tower, I will text you when I am back, maybe, I won't even be back... I switched off the phone, letting it drop to the bed, before I groaned, where in the hell was the dragon king himself? I have heard some rumors that he was mate-less, even a thousand years old. He hunts for the flesh, and he has huge horns. The tale of the dragon king was always told to make kids stay right where they were. "Run. The dragon king is coming to hunt you." They would always yell, frantic and brief. It never failed to keep me right on my bed, shivering, dreaming of times when the dragon king would come and destroy my family. Maybe, he would breathe in that fire from his nostrils or even his lungs and lunge towards me, funny, because the dragon king I had feared all my life was coming. He was coming to meet me, and I had no idea who he was, what he looked like, or his f*****g name. The door bursts open and I snap my eyelids to stare up at me, my heart beating. I had expected a man with horns to walk right in, I had expected someone ugly. But, no, the man that walked right in was enough to make my heart squeeze.
