I stood frozen, my mind reeling from Prince Edvin's declaration. Mate? Luna? What was he talking about? I didn't even know him!
Drew's growl still lingers in my ears, and I felt his hand tighten around my wrist, pulling me closer to him. I tried to shake him off, but his hold around my wrist was tight.
"Let go of me, Drew," I whispered, trying to keep my voice low.
But Drew didn't budge. Instead, he turned to Prince Edvin, his eyes flashing with anger. "She's mine," he snarled.
Prince Edvin's expression didn't change, but his eyes showed a sign ammusement. "I don't think so," he said, his voice showed a hint of confidence. "Arianna Adams is my mate, and I will not let anyone take her from me."
I felt like a pawn in a game, with two powerful men fighting over me. I didn't want to be a part of this, didn't want to be the cause of tension between two packs.
"Stop this," I said, trying to standing my ground. "I don't want to be a part of this. I don't even know you, Prince Edvin."
Prince Edvin's expression softened, and he took a step closer to me. "I know this is a shock, Arianna," he said. "But I assure you, I am not a monster. I will do everything in my power to make you happy."
I shook my head, feeling overwhelmed. "I don't want to be with you," I said, trying to sound believable. "I don't want to be your mate or your Luna. I just want to be left alone."
Prince Edvin's face fell, but he couldn't back down. Instead, he turned to Alpha McCarthy, who had been watching the whole scene with interest.
"Alpha McCarthy, I request permission to take Arianna Adams to the Darkclaw pack," Prince Edvin said. "I promise to keep her safe and happy."
Alpha McCarthy's expression was thoughtful, and he looked at me with a critical eye. "Arianna, what do you want?" he asked.
I hesitated, unsure of what to say. Part of me wanted to run away from all of this, to escape the drama and the tension. But another part of me was curious, curious about Prince Edvin and the Darkclaw pack.
"I...I don't know," I said finally.
Alpha McCarthy nodded thoughtfully. "Very well," he said. "Prince Edvin, you may take Arianna Adams to the Darkclaw pack, but you must promise to keep her safe and happy. And Arianna, you must promise to give Prince Edvin a chance."
I nodded, feeling a sense of trepidation. What had I just gotten myself into?
As Prince Edvin smiled and bowed, I felt a sense of unease. What did the future hold for me? And what did Prince Edvin really want from me?
As Prince Edvin bowed, I felt a sense of unease wash over me. What had I just agreed to? I didn't know anything about Prince Edvin or the Darkclaw pack. All I knew was that I was being pulled into a world of politics and power struggles, and I wasn't sure if I was ready.
"Let's go," Prince Edvin said, offering me his arm.
I hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to do. But then I remembered Alpha McCarthy's words: I had to give Prince Edvin a chance. So I took a deep breath and placed my hand on Prince Edvin's arm.
As we walked away from the garden, I could feel the eyes of the others on us. Drew's growl still echoed in my ears, and I knew that he wasn't happy about this turn of events. But I didn't have time to worry about Drew right now. I had to focus on Prince Edvin and the Darkclaw pack.
We both walked in silence for a few minutes, the only sound being the crunch of gravel beneath our feet. I didn't know what to say to Prince Edvin, and he seemed content to simply walk beside me.
Finally, we reached a large, black carriage that was parked near the entrance of the pack's territory. Prince Edvin opened the door of the carriage for me, and I slid inside, feeling a sense of unease.
As Prince Edvin got inside the carriage, I couldn't help but wonder what lay ahead. What would the Darkclaw pack be like? Would I be accepted, or would I be seen as an outsider again?
I didn't have any answers to my questions, but I knew that I was about to find out. The Coachman started the carriage, and we pulled away from the pack's territory, leaving everything behind.
As we drove, the scenery outside my window changed from the familiar trees and hills of the Crimson Moon pack's territory to a more rugged and mountainous landscape. I had never been this far from home before, and the unfamiliar surroundings made me feel a little anxious.
Prince Edvin sensed my uneaseness, and he reached out to place a reassuring hand on my arm. "Don't worry, Arianna," he said. "You're safe with me. We'll be at the Darkclaw pack's territory soon."
I nodded, forcing a fake smile, trying to feel more at ease. But as the miles flew by, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was about to happen. What if I didn't like the Darkclaw pack? What if they didn't like me?
As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the landscape, the coach man turned off from the main road and onto a smaller, winding road that led us deeper into the mountains.
The air grew cooler and crisper, filled with the scent of pine and earth. I rolled down my window, feeling the wind rush past my face as I gazed out at the breathtaking scenery.
Suddenly, the coach man stopped the carriage, and the carriage skidded to a stop on the gravel road. I looked up to see what had caused him to stop, and my heart skipped a beat as I saw a massive stone gate looming before us.
The gate was adorned with intricate carvings of wolves and other symbols that I didn't recognize. Prince Edvin turned to me, a smile spreading across his face.
"Welcome to the Darkclaw pack's territory, Arianna," he said. "We're home."
As Prince Edvin spoke, the stone gate began to swing open, revealing a winding driveway that led up to a sprawling mansion made of dark stone. The mansion seemed to loom over us, its turrets and spires reaching up towards the sky like skeletal fingers.
I felt a shiver run down my spine as the coach man stopped the carriage, and drove us up the driveway. As we approached the mansion, I could see that it was surrounded by a lush garden filled with all manner of flowers and trees. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming roses, and I was shocked by the beauty of the mansion.
As we pulled up to the front of the mansion, a group of people emerged from the front door to greet us. They were all dressed in formal attire, and they bowed low as Prince Edvin stepped out of the carriage.
"Welcome home, Prince Edvin," one of them said, a tall, imposing man with a stern look greeted.
Prince Edvin nodded, smiling, and then turned to me. "Arianna, this is Marcus, our pack's beta," he said. "And this is our pack's healer, Elara."
I nodded, trying to take it all in. There were so many new faces, and I couldn't help but feel a little too overwhelmed.
As Prince Edvin led me into the mansion, I couldn't help but wonder what lay ahead for me. Would I be accepted by the Darkclaw pack, or would I be seen as an outsider? And what about Prince Edvin's claim that I was his mate? I still didn't know what to make of it all, those thoughts kept lingering in my mind.
