The guard didn’t wait. He grabbed my arm roughly and pulled me out of the room.
“Walk faster,” he barked, not even looking at me.
My legs felt weak, but I forced myself to move. I could still feel Juliana’s grip on my wrist, even though she wasn’t beside me anymore. Her words repeated in my head like a broken song: “Whatever they do, don’t tell them anything.”
The hallway was colder than before, or maybe it was just fear making me feel that way. I tried to count my steps, tried to breathe slowly, but my chest felt tight. I wanted to ask where we were going, but I was too scared to open my mouth.
After what felt like forever, we stopped at a dark room. The guard pushed the door open, then shoved me inside. I stumbled a little but caught myself.
The room was small. One single ch
