chapter 15 - Acceptance

I tied the last button on my suit before throwing on the blazer. I tied my hair into a low bun and made my way to the hall. I met Dane and Alec on the way and Dane tells me that Tayler and Ryan are in town doing dress shopping. "so she's coming tonight?" Dane nodded as Alec spoke. "Bjorn, when will you end this madness and accept this woman as your mate? Is it not better to have known love and lose it than to not know love at all?" We all stopped and Dane and I just stared at Alec "really?" Dane said, slightly disgusted in Alecs mushy statement. I just laughed and hit him playfully on the chest "we really need to find your mate, Casanova: I said through my laughing. Alec shrugg as we enter the hall, many of the guests have already arrived. Everyone was laughing and drinking, some were dancing to the rhythm of the music. I walked around with Alec and Dane, greeting and chatting, all the while Zion was pacing in the back of my mind, anticipation for when Ryan would arrive. I kept thinking about what Alec said, well he said it in a very foolish way, but in essence maybe it made sense. Sameth joined us and along with him came that Ridge guy, really I just wanted to rip his smug little face off, but unfortunately, Sameth just introduced him to me as his Beta, my night could not.get any more annoying.

A short while passed when Tayler showed up, but where was Ryan, was she okay? As if she could read my mind, the world around me froze and her scent filled the room. I looked up to meet her gaze, my breath stolen from me. that moment, her approaching us, felt as though it would last forever. She looked irresistibly perfect. Her black hair fell in waves and was pulled to hand over one shoulder. Her lips were painted crimson red, to match her high heels, and her dress.. her dress fell over her body like melted wax, I could see every curve, every inch. She was breathtaking. I wanted to take her, right then and here, mark her in front of all these people. I wanted to claw out every eye that looked upon her. Before I could say anything, that asshole Ridge walked up to her, although, she didn't seem to pleased about that. 'Maybe she wanted it to be us' Zion growled. he was panting, growing in lust for our mate. She looked over at me, almost expectingly, she looked shocked at something he said about good news, I couldn't make out exactly what. Then they went off to the bar. Tayler was looking at me, expectingly. "Alpha, with all due respect, what are you doing!" Dane looked down at Tayler and covered her mouth with his hand before she could continue "she didn't mean it" he said, slightly worried. I frowned at him, shaking my hair for him to let her go. "I'm sorry, I meant no disrespect, I'm just merely pointing out, as a friend, that another man with your woman, she looks extremely uncomfortable. you need to decide what it is you want, if not her then let her go." everyone is looking at Taylor, she quickly ends with "with all the respect you deserve, my Alpha" I nod in recognition of all she has said and look over at the bar. He was so close to her now, touching her. She looked so upset, her eyes closed. I moved quickly, passed everyone. When I stood behind her and she felt me, she didn't move away but rather she moved closer to me, I could sense her becoming calmer. I gave one look at Ridge and he knew that if he didn't leave now, he wouldn't leave alive. All the while she leaned more and more into me. I gently held her lower waist. pulling her to lean against me completely. I lowered my lips to her ear and whispered "I, Alpha Bjorn Thorngurd accept you, Ryan Grimm, and my mate and Luna" I felt her body tense and she tuned around to look at me. there was silence between us, she looked shocked, frozen like a deer to headlights. She moved away from me slightly. I reached up and brushed her hair of of her shoulder before lifting her chin so that our eyes could meet. "Ryan.." she looked at me, before answering "I..I need air". she made her way to the main entrance, I followed quickly after. She immediately took off her shoes and jogged down the stairs, across the driveway and I to the hedged garden. "Ryan.." I called after her again,.no answer. She eventually stopped by the fountain and ran her fingers through her hair as she kept her back to me. I took my jacket off and placed it around her shoulders, seeing how visibly cold she was getting. We stood there, in silence for awhile before she turned around to look at me "kiss me" is all that she said. I was surprised, it was the last thing I expected her to say, but I didn't have to be told twice. Without even a second thought I rushed towards her, our faced inches from eachother. I placed my one hand at the base of her neck and the other on her lower back. She closed her eyes. Our lips met, for the first time, every bit of her was intoxicating and I knew at that very moment that I would never let her go. She wrapped her arms around my neck as the kiss deepend and her mouth opened, allowing my tongue access. We devoured each other, both with equal desperation. We no longer wanted each other, we needed each other.

When we finally broke free from each other, I softly kissed the tip of her nose and offered my hand as we walked back to the event. "so what now?" she asked, looking up at me as we walked "now it's forever" is all I said. We join the others and Ryan goes to Tayler, the both of them disappearing to the ladies room. "Alpha Bjorn," Sameth said, approaching me "I must apologize on behalf of my Beta, I told him to leave the the girl alone." I looked at Sameth and nodded, giving him a knowing look. He sighed and motioned with his hand that I can proceed with what I wanted to do. I walked up to Ridge and punched him so hard in the face that I broke his nose, I lifted him up from the floor by his color " you ever touch her again, I'll rip your spine from your body and hang it out for the crows to feed on." I threw him on the ground and walked away.
