After returning to Fairmont, I heard that Ethan had fallen ill.
I knew Ethan had deliberately let that news reach me.
I was lowering my head and typing a medical record into the computer when Julian handed me a prescription order.
"You're not going to see him?"
I did not turn to look at him. My fingers continued tapping across the keyboard.
"What for? It's not like he's dying."
Dr. Hayes was probably worried that I would go back to an ex again, so she told me that Ethan only had a fever.
Besides, it wasn't as if he lacked people to take care of him.
Julian gave a soft laugh and sat down beside me.
"I knew my star wouldn't shine for only one person."
He propped his chin on his hand and looked at me, then sighed. "I just wonder whether she could blink at me once in a while too."
