Don't be Embarrassed

1448 Words

By the time we arrive back at Cass's condo, I'm tired from the evening, but he throws me for a loop when we enter the elevator. I enter first and place my back against the wall so I'm facing the door, but Cass doesn't turn like me. Instead, he walks to me to hold my hands. "Still cold," he says, surprised. "I told you they're always cold," I respond, confused. "I know, but the car was so warm, how could that not have helped? It was basically a sauna," he says, exasperated. I roll my eyes and say, "The car wasn't that hot." "Carlos thought I was joking when I told him to set it at such a high temperature," he deadpans. "Well, you don't have to do that. I'm honestly so used to it that I don't notice it," I say, starting to feel a bit overwhelmed by his concern and dominating presence.
