EPISODE 13:THE PARTY BEGINS

447 Words
Lila couldn’t stop fidgeting as she adjusted her dress in the mirror. The soft glow of her room made her reflection seem almost ethereal, and for a moment, she barely recognized the girl staring back at her. Tonight wasn’t just any night — Kaden had invited her to a friend’s party, and the mix of excitement and nerves made her heart race. She had told herself repeatedly that she was just going as a friend, nothing more. But every time she thought about Kaden’s smile, the way he leaned slightly closer when they talked, and the playful sparkle in his eyes, her resolve wavered. By the time she arrived at the party, the music thumped through the hallway, bass vibrating against the floor. People were laughing, dancing, and mingling, but Lila’s focus was sharp. She scanned the room, searching for Kaden. And there he was — leaning casually against the balcony railing, a glass in hand, his hair slightly tousled, that signature smirk teasing his lips. “Kaden,” she called softly, feeling her stomach flutter. He turned, eyes lighting up when he saw her. “Lila! You came,” he said, walking over with that same confident swagger that made her heart stutter. “You look… wow. That dress — it’s perfect.” Lila felt heat rush to her cheeks. “Thanks… you look… good too,” she managed, feeling flustered under his gaze. Kaden chuckled, that playful tone in his voice. “Flustered already? You’ve barely been here five minutes.” They started talking, laughter mingling with the party noise around them. Kaden was unusually attentive, asking about her week, teasing her gently, and occasionally brushing his hand lightly against hers when emphasizing a point. Lila felt herself melting a little inside. For once, she allowed herself to imagine that maybe, just maybe, he liked her back. The night carried on, and Lila was beginning to relax, enjoying the unexpected sweetness in Kaden’s words and gestures. They laughed over silly jokes, danced briefly, and shared quiet conversations near the balcony, away from the crowd. For the first time, Lila felt a warmth, a connection that went beyond casual flirtation. But as she watched him, a small voice in her head whispered caution — something felt slightly off. Kaden’s attention seemed almost too perfect, too timed, as if everything he said and did was designed for effect. She shook her head, trying to dismiss the thought. Maybe it was just nerves… or maybe she was reading too much into it. Little did she know, this was only the calm before the storm — the night was about to challenge everything she thought she knew about Kaden.
