Samantha looked out at the road one more time before taking that leap and doing what she vowed she would do. She had just turned 18 yesterday. Now it was her time to leave the dump that outsiders knew as her home. It really wasn’t though. She could only think of the home she shared with her step dad and mother as a prison. It was hell and had been since the first time she met him. He was a truck driver and spent most of his time on the road. He had come home just a few hours ago. That was a surprise to them all because he had come home days before schedule to surprise her mom. He must have had a second agenda though. Her stepdad had been good to her mother in the beginning but now all he did was call her names and tell her that she wasn’t good enough. She didn’t see how her mother wasn’t. She had devoted her time to making him happy. Her stepdad had soon learned what hurt her the most and used it any time he could. He never physically hit her--at least not to Sam’s knowledge, but his verbal abuse was pure evil. She watched as the light went out in her mother’s eyes and she began to drink to fill the void. She was a sloppy drunk and soon she had become the town w***e. It was embarrassing to say the least. Now Ray on the other hand didn’t spend enough time at home to learn of his wife playing house with other men. The times when he was there Sam stayed on edge and as far away from him as she could. She would spend most of her time away from the house and what time she was there was spent locked in her room with her dresser or desk pulled over in front of the door as it was now. He never said anything to her but she would catch him looking at her though. When he thought she wasn’t looking his eyes would go straight to her chest or ass. She would feel that sensation of fear travel through her body at that moment and would become scarce quickly. Since she was 16 and her mother had married him she had always made sure she was never alone with him. She wasn’t giving him the chance. Now he was at her door and she knew that he would be coming through it at any moment.
