Elena’s POV My hand started to move toward the door handle. Every instinct in me was screaming to burst in there and interrupt their romantic dinner. But I stopped myself. I had to. This was ridiculous. I loathed both of them for what they had done to me—why should I care if two horrible people wound up together? Better for Kade to become distracted by Serena than continue to hunt me down like an animal. No, I had come here for a reason that had nothing to do with Kade. I came here for my daughter. Not wanting to hear another moment of their sordid date, I crept past the door and made my way to the stairs leading up to the second floor. My heart lurched as I placed my foot on the bottom step, making it creak. I froze. But no one heard me. I could hear Kade and Serena’s muffled voices
