Was he Never Real?

Prologue

*2 weeks ago*

I sat on the edge of my bed and tied my shoes, listening for the familiar faint rumble at the end of the road. As I heard it, I grinned. Checking my appearance in the mirror one last time, I see my semi-tan skin glowing, my light brown wavy hair falling perfectly around my shoulders, and my green eyes popping against my mascara-covered lashes. My phone buzzes as I pick it up, a text from my boyfriend, Lucas. I squeal when I read it.

"I'm here, pretty girl."

I grabbed my purse and ran outside, making my way down to the end of the road. As I approached him, he pulled his helmet off and I smiled even wider.

"Hi, baby!" I grinned, wrapping my arms around his neck as soon as he's off of his motorcycle. I pulled myself onto my toes, pressing a quick kiss to his lips. "I've missed you," I said softly even though I had just seen him a few hours prior at school.

"Hi, baby girl. I missed you too." He smiled down at me, pressing a kiss to my forehead before pulling back and grabbing the motorcycle helmet he bought for me about a month ago. He slips it onto my head, buckling it for me before slipping his own on and helping me onto his bike. "Come on, Em. We have dinner plans," He grins before slamming his visor shut, knowing it always drives me crazy when he plans surprises but also knowing that I love how much thought he always put into them. I wrapped my arms tight around his waist, my fingernails brushed lightly over his abs through his shirt, sending a shiver down his spine. He started the bike back up, I pressed a soft kiss to his shoulder before tightening my arms around him in preparation for him to take off.
