Chapter 10

Haven’s POV If I had stayed longer in that clubhouse, I would have dozed off. Once I ate anything stodgy and drank some water, I became weak, which was why I only took snacks most times during worktime and then a stodgy meal at night, regardless of the fact that it was not recommended. When I entered Rayna's apartment, it wasn't the way I thought. I expected to see my belongings still littered on the floor, but the room seemed organised. She stayed in a self-contained apartment, and didn't like sharing the space with anybody. So when she mentioned that I stay with her, I was stunned at first. I dropped my helmet on the floor beside the wall, darting my eyes around the space and trying to reminisce about the last time I came here. A sound came from the side, and it was her, stepping out of the bathroom. “I expected you to work until evening. Did everything go well?” I nodded and turned to face her. “Where did you keep them? I rushed down here to arrange them.” “You think I'm that lazy? That's so disrespectful of you.” She giggled and shoved her wet hair to the back. “Hera came around; she looks like hell.” I peeked through the window, “Did she leave already?” She shook her head, “Went to post something out for her clients. She will be back soon.” I breathed out, “I don't know what to do now.” “Just sit, and I'll get you something… “Don't, don't please.” I cut her short, patting my belly. “Already had enough there. He convinced me to eat lunch with them before leaving, and you won't believe how I'd been thinking about my life; from not liking the bikers to being almost part of them since I stayed in their building. Isn't that somehow?” She shook her head and grabbed her hair dryer, “I think that's your fate.” “Fate indeed!” We burst into laughter. “What about washing up? I'll show you how I organised your stuff when you're done,” she suggested, and I took it up, undressed, and entered the bathroom to do my thing. My washing materials were all there already, so I just had to use them. It was right there that I recalled the lady who kept glaring at me while I was eating. She didn't look familiar, so I wondered what could have triggered her glaring that way as though we were rivals. Had she seen me in the past? Did we have unfinished business and it slipped my mind? I hastened up and finished bathing, only to see Hera gobbling on a plate of food when I came out. She was eating as if she hadn't eaten for days, and just seeing her flash to my memory the last time she had a beef with Rayna and I did as much to see that they made up. “Your boyfriend kicked you out, right?” I asked Hera, and she slowly raised her head; her hand hung midway to her mouth. “What? You're eating like he hasn't fed you for days.” She shook her head and dropped the spoon, “That could have been better.” I transfixed my palms on my waist, “Then, what happened? You rarely visit Rayna.” She chuckled, “I do! Don't start that now.” “She does when her boyfriend misbehaves, and while I try calming her down, we begin quarrelling. So I stopped her from coming.” Rayna picked up from behind me. I nodded reluctantly, “And now that you came? Did he misbehave again?” She f*****g nodded and continued eating. “Dude f****d the lady he claimed was his sister right before my eyes because I was menstruating and didn't want to get intimate with him,” she said, not even looking up at me. For heaven's sake, was it an era of men cheating or what? I was too tired to get built up over someone else's issue, so I walked to the wardrobe and opened it. That moment, Rayna rushed up and began showing me how she separated our belongings so it wouldn't be confusing. “Lease expired?” I threw the question at Rayna, and she steupsed at me before heading back to the sofa. “We don't need to get kicked out, and ain't jobless, so I'm gonna support the next.” “She doesn't pay the lease.” Hera chipped in, and my jaw dropped. “Her dad does that for her.” I laughed out happily, “What good news to those who have a lovely dad. That's why you never believed mine acted that way.” I shook my head, bitterness about to creep into my chest, but I instantly shoved it away by asking Hera, “So, you going back there, huh?” “Why should I?” “You always do when he hits you.” Rayna added, and she licked her lips. “How did his sister moan while he claimed her? You know he's been cheating, and you just found out?” “Get some sense, Hera. That dude caused trouble between you and Rayna so much,” I added while dressing up. “Now what do I do? I'd never stayed idle like this before.” Rayna cleared her throat, “You have to rest, babe.” “You really got kicked out?” Hera asked, and I nodded. “I left my ex’s house.” “Staying where right now?” I asked, lying on the tiled floor. She shook her head, “Nowhere for now. I kept my belongings in one of his neighbors' houses so I could go send forth the package to my client first. I'd reached out to a house agent to get me a room self-contained like this. You think I can find one today? There's still time.” “Come stay here with us,” Rayna said to her, and she looked shocked. “You know how much the lease would be? Come stay here and do your business.” I clapped my hands at them, “Wanted to ask what it means when a woman you never saw in your lifetime glares at you. I sat beside their Prez, chatting with him while waiting for the lunch to be served, and this wench wouldn't get her eyes off me. Would have been dead if bullets got off the eyes when glaring.” They were silent for some time before Rayna grabbed her chair pillow and smiled. “Could be a jealous girlfriend.” “Jealous girlfriend and she didn't drag her out? Maybe a crush.” Hera answered, and I took her response, because I know a girlfriend wouldn't watch me sit beside her man, and Major didn't ever look at the woman. “Just be careful. Bikers are possessive.” “Towards what's theirs, right? If she's a crush, then she doesn't own Major.” Rayna added, trying to make more sense, and as well making me confused. My attention slipped from them as my cell phone rang and I grabbed it. I steupsed so loudly upon seeing that I hadn't even deleted Alden's contact from my phone, and he was the one calling. “Why not pick it?” Hera asked curiously. I shook my head and shifted the phone to the side, “We are done, so why calling me?” “Wait! I hope he isn't the one who just honked his car horn?” Rayna stood up and walked to the window. She adjusted the curtain a bit and peeked, before shoving it closed again. “I said it. But how did he know I lived here? Your damn ex,” she whispered and began getting back to the sofa. I didn't bulge, because I made it clear that we were done and nothing was changing my mind ever again.
