Haven’s POV
“I've tried all I can, but it's not working,” one of my apprentices complained about the bike's loose chain I appointed him to work on. “Ma’am, would you do it? I have to watch you,” he added.
What other choice do I have? I had to get into work, tightening the loose chain while he watched how it was done. Even the others had to come around, and that was how I realised this was one thing they hadn't learnt yet.
While fixing it, I was elaborating, teaching them with words how it was done easily. And later, I still unfixed the chain three times and had them repair it one after the other. We were still on it when I felt the presence of someone around and turned to see Major standing and watching us.
Seeing him caused my heart to skip a beat, and then my smile, which I seem to have lost control over, covered my face. “Morning, Prez!”
My apprentices all turned and greeted him too before getting back to work.
“I hope all is well with you.”
“Wanted to see how your day is going, and then ask for a favor,” he answered, and I pressed my lips together. “Can I have some private time with you? I won't take so much of your time.”
I didn't have a choice and headed to a corner with him. I folded my arms, my heart somehow throbbing in fear that he would ask of me what I wouldn't be able to grant. I also hoped he hadn't discussed it with his men, and the majority wanted me out, and now he needed to speak with me.
“My dad invited me for dinner and insisted I come with a woman. I'm single, and this is compulsory for me…
So how was that my business?
“I wanted to ask if you can follow me. It's just for the dinner and nothing serious.”
I didn't realise when I scoffed. Was this man joking right now?
“Prez,” I took a deep gulp. “I just broke up with your damn brother.”
He nodded, “I know, and it doesn't matter. I just want to be present there so he can grant me my favor too. If you want to get paid, then…
“Oh no!” I stopped him fast enough. I just don't like people who act this way, as though they should help and not get one in return unless they offer something. “Well, this is kind of difficult to decide. Mind giving me some time to think over it? If it doesn't sit well with me, your money wouldn't push me to do it.”
I didn't expect him to agree to my demand, of not giving him an immediate response. In fact, for someone who was now like my savior and I knew I owed him, his reaction was far from what I expected as Alden's brother.
“No problem! I might not come around for now, so you can text me your response when you think it over,” he added and patted my shoulder before leaving.
Heaven knew how long I stood there, staring at his silhouette until he vanished from my eyes. “He wants a favor from his dad? And to get it, he needs to come with a woman? That's outrageous! Does he want him to get married, and he doesn't want to? I guess so.” I muttered to myself until I let out a heavy breath.
I wondered why he didn't want to get a girlfriend instead of doing this. What if they think we are dating for real?
That little discussion stayed in my mind until I went home that day. My friends and I were making our dinner when I brought it up to them and how baffled I was.
He helped me, and I needed to do this for him. But it was tougher because my ex was his brother, and his dad knows me and doesn't want me near his son. If he doesn't like me getting married to Alden, would he accept Major?
“You know, babe, I didn't tell you because I thought it didn't matter since there's nothing going on between you two. But he had a girlfriend. Now guess why they broke up?” Rayna asked, and I locked eyes with Hera, who burst into laughter. “What's funny? Even Hera doesn't know because she doesn't frequent the club party due to her stupid ex.”
I thought about the necessary things and mentioned, “Cheating…”
“But all men cheat, so they shouldn't be pissed when a woman does the same.” Hera chipped in, and her smile vanished that moment.
Rayna shook her head, “Those bikers made me understand that not all men cheat. They are too loyal to their ladies and wouldn't stand that cheating stuff. The ones you see f*****g around are the ones without a woman. Of course, not every man wants to be loyal to a woman. But loyalty and respect for their women is one of their rules, so if you break it, you're out of the club.”
God, I didn't expect that from such dangerous people.
“So, she actually cheated. But with someone she shouldn't have neared.” Rayna added, and I took a slight gulp. “Alden f****d her, and she kept moaning, asking for more.”
A knot twisted in my gut. “Alden did what? f****d his brother's girlfriend?”
“And the girl was also stupid.” Hera snarled.
Oh f**k! This was so irritating.
I just hated that dude more and wished I could tear him apart. How dare he?
He f****d my sister too, and…
I slammed my palm on the cabinet, causing the others to flinch.
“Life's brutal. Why does it give some people lemon, and others lemonade?” I growled, my chest about to burst in anger.
“But I hope he isn't trying to get back at his brother with you? You can't be a revenge tool.” Rayna pulled my attention once again.
I exhaled heavily, “Who cares if I'm a revenge tool? I'm f*****g going to that dinner with him.”
“Babe!”
I didn't even care and stormed out of the kitchen to the room, grabbed my cell phone, and called Major immediately.
“Hi, Prez!”
“Not expecting your call tonight.”
“Well, I wanted to tell you that your dad canceled my marriage to your brother because he doesn't like me. It was my dad who told me this, and not your dickhead brother. So don't you think using me will make you lose more or cause chaos?” I asked him, my fingers tapping constantly on my dress.
Seriously, I awaited a rejection, because this wasn't real and he didn't need to lose what he was after because of me.
“It doesn't matter. If you just accept, I'll handle the rest by myself,” he stated, and my face lit up with a broad smile.
I licked my lips, nodding like a child, “Yeah, I'm going with you.”
“Huh? You are?”
