Chapter 4

Haven’s POV “Alright, if that is how you want it. I will need to get off with the work I have at hand and then reach out to you.” I responded, and he nodded, his gaze lingering on me in such a way that I felt he was already devouring me. No doubt, he was good-looking. I recalled Alden once mentioning he had a brother, but I had never seen what he looked like, nor did I expect him to be a biker president. If indeed he was Alden's brother, then it wouldn't be good if I started fantasizing about him when he would be no different from his brother. Also, I knew bikers had their ladies. But the single ones f****d around with whatever women they wanted, and even the ones with ladies broke up with them as if the relationship was nothing to them. Well, what mattered was that he didn't take it hard on me as Rayna made it look. I turned to the biker who was holding the bike and asked him, “Can you take it in? Or…” “You could come take a look at the others, too,” said their president, with a single nod. I shrugged and followed him. I looked at Rayna, who was finally wearing a smile, and signaled to her that I would be back, then we got into the clubhouse together. He took me out of the visitors' seating area and into the main club base, then to a particular store, so large with so many bikes parked in there…but none were in good condition. “With your words, I found out you do painting jobs too,” he said, sparing me a glance, and I nodded. “So, you will also get so many bikes to repaint for us, especially mine. We pay well.” It was so difficult not to smile back at him when he had it all over his face. “My charges are affordable, though. But why do you have them this much? You don't repair bikes?” He shook his head, “We had a mechanic, but since he fell sick and was stopped from working, we found it difficult to move on to another one outside the club, so we only hope that he gets better soon.” “I see. Better feel okay with me touching them.” I teased, and he chuckled, causing my belly to rumble. Why does he look so soft? I tried my best to see that I stopped admiring him, but I wouldn't. He was so huge and taller than Alden, had a very charming look, and his grey eyes wouldn't stop glinting at me. I lost count of the times I swallowed my saliva, battling my feelings for the first time. With all my exes, it took me some time to begin liking them, but I was already doing so to this dude, and I hated that he was my ex’s brother, if I wasn't mistaken. His leather jacket, down to his boots were so darn giving, and I couldn't believe I was admiring a biker just now. I pinched my cheek because I needed to be out of this fantasy of mine. Not like I would agree to be his woman if he wanted, not after the f*****g heartbreak I had just gotten this evening. “These babies would be happy if they are finally revived to get back to work.” His voice, deep and sexy, snapped me out of my fantasy world back to reality. “So, do you think it will work out?” I nodded, without even thinking through his question. “What do you mean? As in, repairing them, right?” “Yeah!” “I'll try my best. But I'm getting paid for all except yours.” I said calmly, but really meant it, because I ain't joking with my money. “The painting comes with different bills, too.” He laughed hard, nodding. “I know, so we are good now.” Oh my God! Thankfully, beating up that deadbeat son of a b***h didn't cost me a lot. Instead, it even got me more jobs to do, even though it was in a place I never thought I'd work in. He led me out, and I met with Rayna, who stood at the side, leaning on the wall while waiting for me. “You shivering?” I grabbed her arms, and she put up a smile. “Scared they would butcher me?” She chuckled, “I wouldn't lie, but yeah.” I darted my eyes around the crowd, all were so loud, dancing and flirting in the open place. “Do you do all that when you come here?” I asked her, and she nodded. “But sometimes, I stay with the bikers if they happen to be around drinking. Some of the ladies there are my friends,” she answered, and I nodded. “Look, that bar will give you a free drink,” she urged. “I need to go dance with the others.” I shook my head, "You're going to twerk like that lady there on a man's groin? What if you get f****d?” “Then that's a one-night stand...” She looked so amused and winked at me before leaving. I slid my palms into the pockets of my jeans, still staring around until my eyes landed on the bar she had shown me. If not the free drink, why would I be here? I didn't need to think about Alden, and it was already working. Meeting with his brother here, who looked like one had shifted my thoughts from him, even though I didn't like it somehow. I nudged past a man and didn't stop until I reached the bar. I knocked on the space there, and the barman turned around, “Vodka? They said it's free.” He nodded, “Free drink. But…” “Just get it.” I cut him short because I knew he was going to ask why a lady wanted alcohol. I was about to grab the seat there when someone spoke behind me, causing my heart to leap. “You take that too? It's my fave,” he said and I nodded, a chuckle breaking through my lips. “Add ice to it,” he said to the bartender, who nodded. He leaned on the counter there, sparing me a glance. The very time my eyes locked with his, my heart skipped a beat, and I gasped. Why was he staring that way? Did he know that I dated his brother? Well, it was fun because he drank with me, and we chatted alongside each other. At some point, some other bikers came along too, and I happened to be the only tomboy in their midst. I noticed how some of them threw me a wink, but none moved me like their Prez sparing me soft glances that made the drink so hot as it ran down my throat. The party soon came to an end, and for the first time, I stayed awake all through the night despite having a stressful day. It was 6 am when Rayna came to me, announcing that she had never seen Hera, and maybe she didn't make it. “Let's start leaving,” I said to her and tightened up the loose rope of my boot. We left the club, and we got on my bike. I had already zoomed off when I took a glance backwards to see him, standing with his palms in his pocket and staring as I rode away from his sight. ‘How did he follow me out and I didn't know?’ I thought, tightening my palm on the bike handle. Shouldn't I be uncomfortable with the way he stared at me? But I rather liked it and hoped to come around the next time they would have a party, just so I could have a drink once again with him. Working on their bikes wouldn't give me that chance, and he might not come around too. I reached the workshop after several miles and twisted the throttle, coming to a stop. Taking off my helmet, I couldn't believe my eyes. “Get off!” I said to Rayna calmly, and she alighted, then did I. “What's happening here?” I muttered, reaching for the entrance of my workshop. “You're back!” I heard my dad's voice from the side. “I ordered them to take everything off.” My pupils dilated. “Why? Did something happen? Are we moving out?” “You are moving out.” “Dad, could you… “You've grown so many wings, and I can't take them again,” he snapped, his voice getting colder and his expression darkening. I couldn't decipher what he meant. “How dare you do that to your sister?” My shoulders dropped. “My sister? What do you mean?” He sneered, “Pretending again? You beat her up, and she had bruises all over her.” Oh my God! Was this supposed to be a morning prank or what? I hadn't ever raised my hands on Eve. “Just because you caught her with Alden, you did that to her.” His voice echoed in fury, and he jabbed at me, coming closer. “How dare you?” I gulped deeper, “Dad, I don't get you. Eve slept with my boyfriend, and I broke up with him. How and when did I raise my hand to her? And did you just call what she did ‘common’?” He nodded, “That was the only way not to lose the prime minister's favor in my family, since you're utterly useless. Not for once have you ever dressed feminine or smelled good, so the minister canceled the wedding, unless his son was choosing Eve.” It finally clicked in. No wonder Eve spoke with her head held high. She didn't just do it on her own, but had backups. And now I wondered what Alden's plan was when his father rejected my getting married to him as planned in the next few months. He even proposed an open relationship, so didn't he know of this or what? “For that, you're leaving this workshop, and I'll rent it out. I don't care what you will do with yourself from now,” he retorted and turned his back on me. I stiffened at that point, just staring at him with lots of words on my lips but too heavy to get out. The two men he had hired were so mean, getting out of the workshop with all of my work materials, and I just knew this was going to be hard for me. I wouldn't leave the workshop and still stay with them, so I needed both an apartment and a workshop, but my money wouldn't deal with both now. I recalled that Rayna was with me and wanted to speak to her about accommodating me, but I wasn't sure how she would feel right now. “You won't beg for a second chance, Haven? Eve is taking treatments now, and you don't even feel any remorse over what you did.” My dad's voice rang out, filled with disdain. I didn't even realise when I scoffed. He wants me to beg? For what exactly? Even slept with my man, lied that I beat her up, so he expected me to crawl to him? I wouldn't do that s**t, and he's supposed to know by now. He didn't even mention that I left the house, but I would take it as a bonus punishment, too. “Be fast about it!” I yelled at the men, clapping my hands. It was too early to argue with my dad, and maybe he isn't even one since he doesn't see me as his daughter. If my uncle had the money to start a workshop for me, I wouldn't have returned to him who abandoned me. “Haven…” I turned to see Rayna standing behind me with tears in her eyes. “You could stay with me, but what about all these? How will you do them?” she whispered, sounding broken, other than me, who was in the mess. I was about to respond to her when I looked out at the roaring engine of a bike that was getting closer to us. Who could that be this early? I wasn't in the mood to work, so I would just send them to another workshop right now.
