Chapter 9

1603 Words
Major’s POV For the first time in my life, I felt somehow weird about asking someone for something. I wanted her to stay back and at least have lunch with me, but was freaking out that she would reject the offer or even think I had the same intention as my half-brother, to waste her time. I hadn't even begged a woman to stay back because of me and didn't want her to leave if it was possible. So this part of me was strange, and I couldn't even hate it. She was still staring at me, waiting for me to speak. While I was trying to come up with how I would make this request so it wouldn't sound like a command. Okay, I came up with a tactic and put it this way: "You've been yawning, and you look both tired and hungry. What about having lunch with us? Then when you get back, you can have the strength to complete the remaining task left.” I stated; my tone was surprisingly calm. I'd never asked for a favor, and that could be because of my position in life. Whatever I wanted done was immediately worked on until it was completed. She tucked her hair behind her ears, “Lunch? Do you think your men will like that?” I nodded, “They already know about the mechanic in our workshop by now, so they would be expecting to see what you look like.” She chuckled, “Then I'm good with it.” So easily; I didn't expect her not to oppose so much. Together, we rode back to the club base, and as I assumed, lunch was ready at that time. “Are there rules guiding your club that I should know?” she asked as we walked side by side to the corner where others were waiting for the meal to be served. I glanced at her and nodded, “There are rules, but they have nothing to do with you since you're not a biker.” I answered, and she nodded. “I hope you feel comfortable being part of us somehow now.” “Sure! I'm okay with you all provided there's no abuse and violence.” She was the first woman to even think of such. The bitches that roam around my men wanting to be claimed do not even care if they are being tied up and abused, provided they are among us. But I had tried to see that my club had those good morals as we own this town. We had lots of missions and visions in this town, and we hadn't done half of it yet. Also, there was no way to achieve any of that if we were abusive and violent, because we would have the outsiders cooperating with us for everything to be achieved. “Sit here, right beside me,” I told her, offering her the seat at my left because my VP has the one at my right. I had to do that so the others would assume I would claim her soon and not get closer to her, or I would break their hands. She smiled and sat quietly, “Thank you.” I wanted to pretend I didn't know about her relationship with my brother and ask if she was in a relationship, but I bet she would assume I was pretending, since I already knew her from when she was an apprentice. So I had to go straight to the point, “How is it going with you and my brother? You will need to tell him that you're here, right?” She glanced at me, wearing a stunning look, and she shook her head. “You knew I was dating Alden?” she asked in a whisper, and I nodded. “But you didn't know he was cheating on me with my sister?” Fuck! Was that a trial or what? “Well, I don't get along with him so much. I only saw you both once and assumed you two were dating. So how will I know he was cheating when I have a lot of things to handle on my side?" She pouted, her face slowly turning red. How much anger does she have towards my brother? I wished it would be so much that she would want to sprain his neck if they met again. “He cheated with my sister, so I'm done with him and not interested in any f*****g man anymore.” She sounded so pissed, and I just hated that I brought up what changed her mood. “I'll have to send my apprentices the address of the new workplace so they don't get stranded next week.” “If your sister did that, then why was she sobbing before me?” I asked again, my voice low enough that no one would hear us. She crossed her arms and legs. "She's always like that, being the victim so I can take the blame. If not for God, I would bury her alive.” I chuckled, "Don't think of that.” “I'm never taking them as my family. Henceforth, my uncle is my dad and his wife my mum. I'll need to visit him too,” she said, and with how she smiled, one could tell she had a nice memory with her uncle and his family. “I can't wait to start making lots of money in your workshop.” I wanted to run my fingers in her hair, but that would mean losing respect for her when she wasn't my lady. She was friendly and good to chat with, but the part where she said she wasn't interested in any man almost made me choke on my saliva. Truly, she was hurt. And the worst? She could think I was no different from my brother. I'd admired her from when she was an apprentice, but I didn't want to distract the little girl who was working hard, and the fact she wasn't up to eighteen then made me pull back too. Only to realise she was dating Alden later on, so I pulled back entirely and just agreed she wasn't mine from the start. Now why did Alden have to damage her heart when I thought I could have her? I will need her to heal first before any approach…and I need to be the one who heals her. If she becomes my lady before the motorbike race championship, then I will likely participate with her. Otherwise, I would just get my mind off my shares from my dad and manage the club however I could. When the meal was served to everyone, she ate it all without leaving behind a drop on the plate. “Is it okay if I ask for more? I'm a big eater,” she whispered to me, and I just signaled the head chef and explained to her. “I'm sorry, lady.” “It's okay. You should eat well with your nature of work." The chef smiled and took her plate. I liked how comfortable she was, because some ladies I know wouldn't even empty the plate to even want more. She wasn't shy to hold back her request, and that gave me more reason not to get her off my mind and fight to make her mine. Soon, the chef returned with another dish, and she emptied it too. She emptied the bottled water served to her and breathed out. “The meal is so good, and I'm full. I will have to leave before I doze off here.” I laughed softly and stood up, leading her out since I was done with my meal too. “What time do you start work?” “6 to 7 am, depending on my mood that morning. Sometimes 8 am if I woke up late. That's why I always work overtime,” she explained, and I also liked her sincerity. She was always early, as Kaden always said about her, and she kept up with it when she had hers too. The moment she rode off, I returned to the club base again, but this time into my bedroom. I had a quick shower, only to step out to meet Nova already waiting for me. “When is this ending? I'm tired of taking them.” She chuckled, “Just a few days left.” Nova was the club's head nurse and was administering some treatments to me. “That lady; don't you think it's a bad idea keeping her around the club? She's your brother's ex-lady, and that could stir issues between you both,” she stated, staring at me, who was busy drying my hair with the hair dryer. “I could do that for you, Prez. Why do you always want to get everything done alone?” I suspected she was getting closer and warned her that minute, “You can keep the medicines and leave. Don't get any closer.” “Again? Am I that stinky?” She wasn't, but I dislike women who are always out to seduce a man, thinking their body could make a man want them. For a long time now, she'd been wanting my attention, and I bet she was jealous about Haven being close to the club. “Just leave, Nova. I don't want us having issues.” “Prez!” I shot her a glare, and she pressed her lips together. “I won't repeat myself.” She nibbled her bottom lip and began leaving.
