How long had I slept? My forehead was throbbing, and I was struggling to open my eyes, but couldn't.

She sat beside me, but didn't say a word, while I glared at her as I had always done. It was as though something was holding me back there from waking from reality…until the loud ringing of my cell phone made my heart leap into my throat, and I jerked from the floor.
