Major’s POV
With the Road Captain and Tail Gunner, I went to look at the damaged roads and how they would be repaired. I was done in the evening, checked, and it was already 6 pm.
I had to go see her before she left to know what my VP came to ask her about. I knew Aron understood me and worked well with me. He was damn caring that one would think he was so brutal and didn't care about humanity. But truthfully, what he cared more about was the club, and he didn't want any of us getting into trouble.
When I arrived at her workshop, she was already packing up to leave, and her apprentices weren't around any longer. I climbed off my bike and hastened towards her, holding my helmet. “Hey,” I called for her attention, and she looked stunned to see me. “Thought you already left. I wanted to inquire about something.”
She adjusted her handbag hung across her body and nodded, "What's that?”
I exhaled first, “My VP came here, right?”
She nodded.
“What did he say? Just wanted to know since he wouldn't tell me.” I stated, my breath still raspy.
The side of her lips stretched, and then she elaborated to me everything that Aron said to her. I expected her to be sad about it, because that could sound harsh to some people, but she still went along to assure me that she wouldn't cause trouble and would see to it that Alden stopped coming to the workshop.
“He's an adult, and unless you kill him, he will always want to piss you off. Just make sure to reach out to me if he happens to show up again, and just so you know that Aron wasn't being harsh, but was doing his job to protect the club. He knows the f**k I am in with my brother and wouldn't like me cooked up because of him.” I elaborated, and she nodded gently, with a soft smile across her face. “About to leave, right?”
“Yeah! I need to begin closing on time since I'm no longer under pressure. And, for my safety too.”
The last statement was very necessary, and I also liked that she wasn't under pressure anymore. I understood that her being in her dad's workshop could be making her want to get enough money already and leave.
“Have a nice ride home. Do you mind texting me when you reach? I need to be sure you reached home safely.” I requested, and she nodded without even hesitating.
I drove out first, so she could lock up the gate, and I had butterflies in my belly as I returned to the clubhouse. I couldn't wait to see her text already, so I was checking on my phone every second, checking if I had missed it or if my phone didn't send notifications anymore.
When my phone beeped and I pulled it out from my pocket, I was expecting to see her as the message sender, only to see it was my dad. My expression contorted while I scrolled through the text, gritting my teeth while reading through the s**t he wrote there.
[Bruno, there will be a family dinner this weekend at the family residence. You are expected to attend with your woman if you're still interested in getting the shares. Otherwise, you can still stay back and don't disturb me anymore about the shares.]
My palms tightened around my cell phone, and my face turned hot.
A family dinner? When did they start inviting me to that?
I know they must have had a lot in the past without me, so why was he doing all these because of the shares I asked about? He was just trying to frustrate me so I would give up on that share, and I would have if I had another quick alternative. The shares were huge and would go a long way in helping the club and me at the time, so I needed them.
But truthfully, if he didn't like me as his son, why then did he accept me? I recall my mum mentioning how he refused her pregnancy at first and later changed his mind. Was he scared he might not have any more sons at that time?
I breathed out and was about to slide my cell phone back into the pocket when Haven's message came in. I even forgot I was expecting her message due to the anger that was already overwhelming me.
[Hello, Major, I reached safely. Thank you for your care today.]
My face beamed with smiles. I couldn't even recall the last time I blushed over a woman's words.
“See, you're having fun with your cell phone,” came Aron's voice, and he grabbed a seat before me. “What's in? Have a gist?”
What other gist will I have if not about my dad?
“Learned the roads were marked for construction. Did they announce it to the town already?” he asked, and I nodded. “Okay! Will take care of that while you focus on others.”
He tapped on the bar rail and called for the bartender's attention. The others were all roaming about, some playing games, some chatting, some drinking, and others looking into their motorcycles. Every damn soul was just busy awaiting dinner.
“My dad texted me,” I said to Aron, who raised his brows. I explained everything to him and then added, “I don't want to miss the dinner, but I also don't know what to do. I would love to go with Haven, but she might refuse my advance.”
Aron chuckled, “Why would she? You're Alden's bro, and she would be thinking that you both are the same.”
“That's what I'm saying. How do I even convince her that we are not the same?”
“Are you falling for her? Got interest? Didn't you mention having no f**k with women?” Aron ranted and shook his head.
I flicked my fingers to the bartender to get my usual. “That was when I didn't know she would fall into my grasp. You know how much I liked her when she was still an apprentice, but moved back when I found out she was dating Alden.”
“Then move and stop hesitating. You have to tell her and listen to her response. There are still a few days before the weekend evening, so try convincing her till then. And also…” he grabbed his glass of drink and sipped from it. “Just get ready for what Alden will have in store for you. Grabbing his woman means getting on his nerves, but I'm just scared because you badly need those shares and your dad might change his mind.”
He was telling the truth. My dad supported Alden a lot and could turn against me.
What should I do?
