Haven’s POV
The remaining hours of the day had me being overwhelmed with work. And once it was closing time, Major showed up in the workshop.
His boot slammed as he got closer and squatted beside me. He said nothing and only watched what I was doing, smelling of leather and patch mixed with cedar. I glanced at him several times, and our eyes locked, causing my belly to rumble.
I couldn't fathom how I felt. For the first time, I wasn't so excited by his presence, nor did I want him to leave either. I wasn't expecting him here today, but his presence wasn't suffocating.
Once I had rounded up the task I was working on, I decided to begin leaving. My apprentices had left already, and it would get dark soon.
