"YOU DID WHAT?!"
"First off, calm down, I only told your boss, you'd be quitting your job."
"Only?!"
"It's much safer that way, the chance of you being taken by my enemies much smaller."
"Did you even think?! I needed that money!"
"You don't need to find a new job, I get plenty paid for an assassination."
"I hate you.."
"Did I say that staying home without a job increases your lifespan?"
"Useless tips aren't gonna help you.."
"Also, now you'll have time to properly learn how to cook, and have more time to visit the supermarket."
"So I'm gonna be your maid?!"
"Maid is... a different word.. I prefer assistant."
"I'm gonna kill you."
"I'd advise against that since I'm a lot more experienced in fighting than you are."
"Are you sure about that?"
"I looked through your whole house, you are as harmless as a disease-less fly."
I hit the wall, where afterwards a gun popped out from, I grabbed it and immediately aimed at him.
"I did not see that coming.."
"HAH! Out of my house now!"
My eyes widened when I saw he just disappeared. A cold chill ran over my spine as I heard a faint whisper and a hand on my hip.
"But I'm afraid, that I'm prepared for everything."
My hands started shaking, his voice was so sure about his action, he knew that the gun was there.
"Don't let that false feeling of safety fool you, I am still the monster you met on the street, Cait"
"A-alright, fine..."
His grim tone turned normal again.
"Great, then let's get started."
He walked away from me, that smirk still plastered on his face.
"Started?"
The next few hours were pure torture, walking after him as he named every single gun in every hiding spot. Which was just.. humiliating.
"Just stop already, please I'm begging you!"
But no matter how hard I complained, Adriad kept going. From the guns, he switched to the switchblades I had lying around here and there. He didn't seem to notice that i was slowly creeping away, or well, that's what I hoped anyway. By the time I reached the kitchen, he was already standing there, arms crossed, lips twisted into a smirk, as always.
"Already tired?"
There was a slight chuckle in his voice. Still humiliated, I decided to ignore him and went in a bee-line straight to the cabinet, reaching for an aspirin and a glass of water.
"I doubt it's my talking that gave you a headache."
"Maybe consider that all of this, is a lot to take in..."
I dropped the aspirin into a glass of water, and slowly watched it dissolve. I tried my damn best to keep my eyes on the glass, but I felt Adriad's eyes boring into me. After a minute I had enough of his staring, I gulped down the contents of my glass and returned to my bedroom.
"Goodnight, Cait."
Once again I went for the silent treatment, making sure to slam the door shut. I shrugged my pants off before diving into the comforts of my bed. My own brain was gonna make sure this was gonna be sleepless night, I just knew it.
I was right.
After snoozing about 10 times, I forced my legs to carry me out of bed, to the bathroom. I turned on the lights and proceeded to position myself infront of the mirror. My eyes were bloodshot, and the giant bags under them didn't make me look any better. My blonde hair was everywhere except where it was supposed to be.
"You look... even worse than yesterday night."
I could've swore I locked the door. It didn't matter, I figured he would do this more often.
"Why thanks, Adriad. I can count on you to make me feel better."
Well thanks to Adriad's infinite kindness to tell my boss that I quit, I now had all the time needed to spend on my hair. At the pace of a snail I started to brush my hair.
"Anyway, you won't see me after ten."
I looked at him via the mirror.
"I'm not in the mood to deal with you today anyway.."
"Still mad about the job?"
Ah, there it was, the everlasting smirk, I would slap it off his face if I could. I grinned at myself at the thought of it.
"Well, of course I would prefer having an actual job, then being someone's glorified maid."
"I told you, not a maid, my assistant."
"As if there's a huge difference."
I gave him one of my glares, all he did in response was shrug.
"Anyway, I'm about to change clothes, please leave my presence."
"Alrighty."
He left, and without me having to say a word he closed the door. Since I had to play maid, excuse me, 'assistant', I decided that some jeans and a simple shirt would do. As I'm about to head downstairs I wonder why I'm even complying to him. Then I remember that if he wanted, he could probably kill me in less than a minute. Smart thinking, a good excuse Cait.
"I'm heading out to the store, seeing as noodles aren't good enough for his majesty. Any requests?"
"Do you have to put it like that?"
I tilted my head sideways.
"I don't know, did you get fired by a random guy who announced only the day before that he's your 'roommate'."
"Still sour about that, noted. Anyway, anything with high protein levels will do."
"Alright then."
I was scouting the store for a bag of strong coffee when I heard an audible gasp behind me.
"Cait?!"
Ooh boy, it's Brittney from work. Act normal, you're the one who quit your job, someone didn't do it for you..
"Heyyy Britt, how's it going?"
"Cait, I'm so glad to see you're okay! I mean, when I got that call from your boyfriend I was so worried!"
Wait, what? I almost choked on my own spit when she said that.
"Ahaha, boyfriend...? You probably mean-"
"I'm kinda mad at you Cait, when were you planning to tell me?! He sounded like a nice guy, but he better treat you nice!"
He's so dead when I get back.
"Oh, yeah, he certainly has his ways to treat me nice."
I grumbled to myself mostly when saying that.
"Anyway Britt, I'll be going, you know, uhm, home. Yeah, home."
"Oh right. We should totally get together again, I'll see you around, Cait!"
After paying for everything I went home with murderous intent.
