Chapter 3: Black mana core.

" What's going on? I didn't die?" Kris looked around with confusion, only to find himself back to his dark and gloomy room.

The sunlight was pouring on his body through the small holes in the roof.

" Was that a dream?" Kris hurriedly checked his soles, there was traces of dirt and mud left. Kris understood that his previous nights experience wasn't just a dream.

" Did someone saved me? But who? A teacher from the academy! But teachers would never come to a place like this." Kris's mind was full of questions.

" Argh... whatever... Thinking hard wouldn't answer my questions ...better go to work or else i'll get scolded by the manager." Kris threw everything at the back of his head.

" Hmm? What....!" Kris suddenly looked at his chest with wide eyes in disbelief. His hands and feet started shivering from excitement.

What he saw was a full grown mana core floating inside, the mana core was ink black in color, looked exactly like a black hole, devouring all the lights around it.

A person who have aptitude for magic will be able to condense a mana core, without condensing a mana core using magic was impossible.

There are certain kinds of aptitude for magic, they are also known as magical elements. Fire, water, air, ice, lightning, earth, light, healing and spirit. One of these nine aptitude is needed for a person to be able to become a magician.

A magician can use the elements of nature, controlling it as he desires.

A mana core would grow inside a person's body, it lived deep inside a person, no one would be able to find or detect another person's mana core if the said person doesn't permit.

A fire affinity mana core would be bright red, water affinity mana core would be dark blue in color, air affinity mana core would be ashe colored, Ice affinity mana core would be dark blue in color, lightning affinity mana core would be bright yellow in color, earth attribute mana core would be gray colored, light attribute mana core would be dazzling white colored, healing attribute mana core would be dim yellow in color and lastly the spirit affinity mana core would be bright green colored.

Kris forcefully suppressed his growing excitement and calmed down. He started contemplating about his current situation. His brows furrowed into a knot tightly.

The problem was he had never heard of someone having a black mana core. At first he was just a normal person without any aptitude for magic but suddenly a mana core grew inside his body overnight, more so how it was black in color. The situation was quite weird.

" Does it have anything to do with yesterday nights incident? It shouldn't be...

A white or red mana core would be better but a black mana core would be a problem. I don't know anything about it's uses and prowess."

Kris decided not to reveal his awakened mana core temporarily, first he needs to find information about it.

What if people see a black mana core as ominous? Wouldn't he be a public enemy then? Keeping that aside it was his first time knowing that a black core exist. So it wasn't to late for him to wait a little longer. Information is needed first hand.

" A white mana core or black mana core as long as i can become a magician...It's better than nothing. " Kris took a deep breath and started planning for his first step.

" Finding information will be quite hard for me. It's almost impossible. Going to the academy library?Only students have access into it. Public library? They won't have any information about magic. Consult teacher Stev?Thats not possible either. I also don't have any friends inside the academy who can help me find information." Kris closed his eyes, thinking hardly, unable to come up with a solution.

Even if he beg a student for help, they wouldn't help him.

Kris walked out of his wooden room, with a broom in hand, heading toward the academy buildings for cleaning.

Three days passed by since his mana core awakening,Kris still wasn't able to find any information regarding black mana core.

He was sure that behind the black mana core there must be a hidden mystery. If someone like him can awaken a black mana core then why others couldn't? Was he a genius? No Kris doesn't consider himself as a genius in anyway except for his photographic memory.

A month passed by like this, still Kris wasn't able to find any information regarding black mana core. But he wasn't wasting his time in idling either, he had learned about black mana cores uses on his own.

Kris has his own understanding now regarding the black mana core.The black mana core, a contamination type affinity. It affects living being as well as non living beings. And how does it affects?It depends on its caster.

Kris took an apple keeping it infront of him, placing his palm slightly over it without touching. His palm was just a few inch away from touching it. Kris willed, the black mana core inside his chest trembled slightly, dark matters started oozing out from his palm engulfing the small apple. The black looking thing that kept pouring from his palm wasn't any kind of liquid nor it had any tangible form. It was like a shadow, formless and ethereal. Kris only saw a lump of ball shaped darkness infront. Kris extended his fingers to touch it, as soon as it came into contact the lump of darkness faded away leaving nothing behind.

The apple was corroded by it completely without leaving any traces.

Kris even tested it on metals and all kinds of hard objects but the results was the same.

It's decaying ability was extremely terrifying. Kris wondered what would happen if it comes into contact with a human body.

The thought of it made his body shudder. Such terrifying decaying ability will surely be seen as demonic and cruel in the magician world. The more Kris thought of it the more he became sure that maybe all the black mana core users had been killed in the past and the news was suppressed or erased completely.

Thats why there was no information regarding black mana core.

Hiding his mana core was the best course of action. He felt glad that he hadn't revealed his mana core to anyone or else he might have died without even knowing why and how.

Kris felt a headache thinking how to disguise his mana core.

" Is there even a way to disguise a mana core? what should i do! If i don't show my mana core, the academy won't acknowledge me as its student and without the student identity i won't be able squeeze out any benefits. To become a magician, strong and stable foundation is needed, without the academy's providings i won't have any foundation regarding knowledge and money. "

Kris left his room with a gloomy look on his face, soon he realized his mistake and his face turned indifferent.

He started his cleaning as everyday, student's looked at him with disdain and mockery, still Kris kept weeding out the grass's with an indifferent expression on his face.
