REUNION OR NOT

CHAPTER FIVE - REUNION OR NOT? Clio swallowed hard on the lump forming in her throat, “Uh...umm..aside from reproduction, is there any other way?” She inquired. The doctor nodded subtly as he adjusted his glasses, “Yes, there is. We could find a bone marrow donor.” Relief washed over Clio's face, “Oh, alright then.” “But...” Clio's heart skipped a beat upon hearing that, “But what?” “The bone marrow donor option is quite expensive. It's also very difficult to find a matching bone marrow donor. We can't afford that much time hence the reason I suggested the first option,” The doctor explained. Clio found herself at a dead end. Right now, Jayden's words were all she could think of but the thought of accepting his offer still made her sick to the stomach. Williams on the other hand, was someone Clio never wanted to get in contact with considering the fact that he cheated on her. She couldn't bring herself to go back to a cheating man. Clio adjusted herself on the chair, “Will she be okay?” “Yes. There's no need to worry. She's unconscious now but she's stable and if it's okay with you, I'd like to keep her under close monitoring at the hospital.” Clio lifted a brow in confusion, “Why's that necessary?” The doctor took off his glasses, his black eyes staring intently at Clio, “Well, she has lost quite a reasonable amount of blood. She's currently getting an IV drip to help her bone marrow but if she's not under medical supervision, it could happen again, thus the need for her to be in the hospital.” Clio’s hands found its way to her lips, pressing tightly on them in fear. She soon released her lips from her hands, “Is..is she going to survive?” Clio asked, her voice barely above a whisper. The doctor stared pitifully at the trembling mother, “Yes, she will. Her condition is just at the early stage, it could be managed from now till the next twelve months without a transplant. Before then, the baby would be born so she has a seventy five percent chance of survival.” “Thank you so much, I'll take my leave now,” Clio rose up slowly, headed for the door. Clio's eyes strayed off into the passageway as she stepped out of the doctor's office, catching a glimpse of Richard standing by Lyra's ward. “Why don't you do it with him?” A thought crept into her mind. No way, Clio shook her head in the negative. She was not going to have s*x with her child's principal. Clio sluggishly walked out of the hospital, leaving as a helpless single mother. The afternoon breeze caressed Clio's face, tingling her swollen eyes. In just a matter of days, her life crumbled before her eyes and she couldn't do anything about it. Going back to Jayden would ruin her reputation as a moral woman. And meeting with Williams meant reunion, a relationship that would ruin her mental health. Both choices would have a negative effect on her life afterwards. Remembering the state of her daughter, Clio knew she had to make a compromise to save her daughter's life. The young lady racked her head, trying to make a decision but it was tough. ******************** “Williams Greg.” Williams' eyes widened in surprise upon seeing the familiar figure in front of him. “Clio..” he called out softly as he examined the lady in front of him. Clio's eyes were reddish, her face was swollen and she looked disoriented. “What happened to you?” Williams asked, his voice tinged with concern as he leaned on his office table with folded arms. “I need you.” Clio declared in a rather icy tone. Williams lifted a brow, confused, “You need me?” “Yes. Lyra has been diagnosed with aplastic anemia and she needs a bone marrow transplant.” Williams' eyes widened in shock, “Is she okay? How's she doing? When did this happen?” “Don't pester me with questions. Lyra is fine,” Clio stated in a soft voice. “What do you need help with? Money? I can help with as much money as you need. Just name your price, I'd do anything to make sure my daughter is fine,” Williams pronounced firmly. Clio closed her eyes in a fit to stir some courage inside her, “I don't need your money. I need you to have s*x with me.” Williams's jaw dropped, “What?” “The doctor said I have to birth another child to save Lyra.” Williams was still confused, “I don't understand.” “The child's bone marrow would be used for the transplant.” Clio explained. Williams was at a loss for words... “Do you want to do this?” The words that finally escaped Williams’ lips. “If I didn't want to do it, I'd not be at your office right now. My daughter's life is in danger. I have no choice,” Clio gritted out. “I'd help you, we have to save our child.” Clio knew exactly where those words was coming from. “This is nothing more than a one night stand so listen to my conditions.” Clio said in a firm tone. Williams was hurt to know that Clio still stood her ground on never coming back into his life so he stayed quiet. “One, you won't have access to the unborn baby. Two, I'd remain a single mother, I won’t get married to you. Three, I'd take responsibility for my children, you're not allowed to fulfill any responsibility towards them in the future. Agreed?” Williams’ expression turned gloomy, his words caught at his throat. “I agree with all except the third. You have to stay with me during the course of the pregnancy.” Clio frowned, “I can manage just fine.” “You don't even have a job, Clio. Please,” Williams shot back. Clio was desperate to save her daughter's life and right now she could use some financial assistance. She clenched her fists in resignation, “Fine. Separate rooms.” Williams nodded, “Deal.” “Come with me,” Clio ordered as she swiveled on her heels, headed for the door. “I’d have you again, Clio Clarke. I'd make sure of it,” Williams muttered with an evil smirk.
