Chapter Eight: Folk Tale The Woodcutter and his wife went out of their cottage to look for their lost children. "I have no money to give," the man said, "but I will beg and plead, with everything I am." His wife looked at him reproachfully. She knew he had not told her the whole story of what happened to their children and where they went. She did know he came back from the woods with no children and no money. She hated him for that. The pair started in the forest at the top of Old Buile Hill, but they found nothing, no one and no clues. They walked down the path at the back of the forest, almost to the road, and then saw the elves coming out of the cistern. They drew closer.
