Chapter 44-1

705 Words

Caleb's Point of View The moment I stepped into the meeting room, I knew something was wrong. Father sat behind his desk, his expression carved from ice. The air itself felt heavy, thick with an oppressive energy that made my skin prickle. Alpha pressure. He was radiating it deliberately. Letting me feel the full weight of his authority. I had only experienced this a handful of times in my life, and each instance had been terrifying. "Sit," he commanded. I obeyed immediately, my legs carrying me to the chair across from him before my brain could even process the movement. "Do you know why I've summoned you?" I shook my head slowly. "No, Father. I don't." His eyes narrowed. The pressure intensified, pressing down on my shoulders like invisible hands trying to force me to my knees.
