KAREN'S POV
My eyes snapped open, and without any hesitation, I got up. My head hurt like hell right now, but just then I recalled all that had happened the previous night.
I glanced around but found the room empty. “He has gone. He left without telling me who he was. I guess that's because he doesn't want to have anything to do with me,” I murmured under my breath, finally standing up on my feet.
I made my way out of the room, heading straight home.
Just as I stepped into my compound, I saw a female figure standing beside my door, making me gasp, as I couldn't help but wonder who that was.
As I moved closer, it became clear. “What are you doing here?” This question rang out of my mouth as my face was now held in a frown.
“Oh, Karen, you are back,” Sarah said with a smirk curved at the corner of her lips.
“I just asked what you were doing here, Sarah, because I don't really invite you,” I said, ignoring her words.
“Hmm,” she exhaled. “You smell like alcohol. Did you have some last night?” she asked, ignoring my question and making me even more pissed than ever.
“Sarah, just get the hell out of here. I want to be left alone,” I said, trying to walk past her, but she pulled me back.
“You have no right to walk past me. Need I remind you, I'm now the Luna of the pack? You should respect me and not dare walk past me,” she said. Her hand was still fixed on my wrist, and that made me even more pissed.
“You are not my Luna and will never be my Luna,” I yelled aggressively.
She broke into laughter. “I know what your problem is, and that is jealousy,” she said, her face brimming with smiles.
“And I like that you are envious of me. I mean, that's what I actually wanted—to be envied by all,” she said.
I could feel anger pulsing through my veins. All I wished for right now was to hit her right across the face and make her understand how I actually felt, but I dared not do something like that.
I knew within me that it would be a big mistake on my part because she was way stronger than me, and I was no match for her in battle, so she would definitely win against me.
“Sarah, I don't know what you want from me, but I will advise you to just leave here now,” I spoke up, trying so hard to sound calm.
Her smile only deepened as she walked even closer to me than before.
“Well, sweetheart, I have no plans to leave anytime soon, so if you want me to leave now, then you will have to make me leave,” she said, placing her hands on my cheeks.
I quickly moved away, getting irritated by her actions. “You have won. You succeeded in ruining my relationship with Brian. What more do you want from me?” I barked, unable to hold it in anymore.
She laughed critically. “I guess that's the reason you went to get drunk, right?” she asked me, but I kept quiet, not knowing what to say to her.
“Speak up, weakling,” she said, walking closer to me while I took a few steps backward.
“I'm not a weakling, so stop calling me that,” I retorted.
Her smile only deepened. “If you aren't a weakling, then what are you?” she inquired, but I just stared at her.
“Sarah, please just leave. I don't want you here or anywhere around me. Please stay far away from me,” I warned her, hoping she would just listen to me and understand what I had requested.
“Well, sweetheart, like I said before, I'm not leaving you alone. I like to be around you, and I will always do that,” she said.
What was I going to do now? How do I get her to stay away from me?
“Anyways, I have a reason I came here, so I will just go straight to it,” she said, her face brimming with smiles.
“Do you know how I managed to ruin your relationship with Brian and get him to pick me instead of you?” she asked, her lips curved in a smirk.
I was curious to know, but I also didn't want to give her the impression that she had captured my attention.
“No, I don't care, just leave now,” I spat, but she was adamant.
“I know you didn't mean that, so I will just ignore it and go ahead and tell you what you want to know,” she blurted out.
“No, I won't tell you; rather, I will make you see for yourself,” she added, and soon clapped her hands together, making me wonder what she was trying to do.
“Look, Sarah, I don't have time for your trash; just say it so I can get in. I have a lot to do,” I urged her.
I hoped that she would just go ahead and tell me who the person was, as I was already running out of patience.
“I know you are curious, but the best part of this is making you see it for yourself,” she said with an evil smirk curving her lips.
Just then, Lily showed up. A smile replayed on my face as I tried to take a step towards her, but Sarah's next words made me freeze. “Lily helped me get Alpha Brian.”
“No, you are kidding, right?” I spat. My anxiety raged and stormed inside of me.
“Why would I be joking around? I’m hell serious,” Sarah responded, placing her hand on Lily's shoulders now.
“No, Lily, I know she is lying. You would never betray me, right?” I asked, trying to grab hold of Lily's hand, but she was quick to swat it away.
“She isn't lying; she is telling the actual truth. I helped her take Alpha Brian away from you because you don't deserve him,” Lily retorted, making me gasp.
“How could you do this to me?” This question rang out of my mouth, tears welling up in my eyes.
“Why wouldn't I do it?” she spoke. I glanced at her, and all I could see was a face filled with excitement and not an atom of regret.
“I thought you were my friend. I love you as a friend and care for you as a friend. How could you betray me like this?” I asked her, my lips trembling.
“Well, I don't love you as a friend. "I mean, I have never seen you as a friend; I only see you as an enemy that I needed to ruin and get rid of,” she blurted out.
I blinked back the tears that were threatening to flow down my cheeks. I was so weak inside right now, but I didn't want to give them the satisfaction they were looking for by crying in front of them.
I bit my bottom lip to control myself from breaking down before them.
“You are really cruel,” I managed to say as I fought to take control of my emotions.
“Yes, I always want to see you lose everyone you ever cared about, and I'm really so happy I was able to achieve that,” Lily said.
“I hate you so much, Karen,” Lily added. Her words were a dagger to my heart, and I just couldn't stand it anymore.
“Leave now,” I barked while she smirked evilly.
“With pleasure, loser,” she laughed mockingly, grabbing hold of Sarah's hand as they both left.
My heart was shattered at this point, and I didn't know if I would be able to heal from thi
s great betrayal. The two most important people in my life had betrayed me. Was I going to be able to survive it?
