CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

Mason's P.O.V

She really didn't care about anyone but herself, so why should i? Using my daughter to get her way with me? That's the biggest mistake she'll ever make, all this facade was for Aaliyah and i would go to any length to make it work.

I tried grandma's way, it didn't work. Now, i'll do it my way and without a care in world.

I went to my study to work and to skip lunch, but when it was dinner time, agatha came to call again, i sent her away. Grandma walked into my study two minutes later;

"Grandmother. " i stood up to aid her but she resisted, she was strong enough to walk on her own now.

"Is work so important you can't leave and eat with your family?"

"I have a lot of work on my table grandma."

"Aaliyah asked for you during lunch, i told her you were busy. You fought hard to get her home, now you can't give her the attention she needs? Maybe you should have left her with that crazy mother of hers."

"Grandmother."

"Come down for dinner Mason, now."

"Alright Grandmother." i couldn't say no to her, i closed the laptop and followed her out. When we arrived, Aaliyah and Audrey were laughing over something, when audrey saw me, she stopped and continued with her meal.

"Daddy."

"Yes princess."

"You missed lunch, Aunt audrey and great grandma said you were busy."

I looked at audrey and grandmother who was already eating, "Yes princess, daddy was a little occupied. But i'm here now, let's eat."

"Aunt Audrey tell daddy and great grandma about the candy man."

"Aaliyah, it's bad table manners to talk while eating, i'll tell them later okay." Audrey said, she forced a smile and then returned to her meal.

"But....."

"Aaliyah, Your food is getting cold, we'll talk later." i said, patting my daughter's head.

After i sent the last email at one am, i was getting ready for bed, then i heard the voice from the adjoined room. I ignored it and laid down to sleep, but then i heard her again, she was probably on a call;

"Keep it down audrey." i said, but still she kept talking. I sighed and walked over to the door, i knocked but there was no response, i opened and took a peek to find her tossing with her hands in the air like she was trying to block something off...'The nightmare again'

I went closer to her, she was saying those words again; "No...please no, stop...don't.."

I tried to wake her up; "Audrey, wake up." she fought me off, i called louder this time; "Audrey wake the hell up!"

She jolted, when she saw me, she pulled away and glued herself to the wall; "Go away! Don't come close to me...."

"Audrey...."

"Go!" she yelled, i walked out of her room and closed the door behind me.

'What could she be dreaming about to frighten her so much?' i thought. I returned to my bed to get some sleep, i wasn't going to push it this time.

At eight am the next day, i got out from the bathroom in my towel, just as i was drying my hair, audrey opened the door to her room and walked out. She halted when she saw me, we stared at each other for a split second before she hurried back in.

Ignoring her, i went ahead to get dressed. There was a knock on the door; "Come in!"

Agatha poked her head in, "Sir, you and Mrs Audrey have guests."

"We'll be down in a minute." I said and she left.

I walked over to audrey's door and knocked; "Yes." She responded

"They're here."

"I'll be right behind you." she said.

I walked out of the room and approached the stairs, Aaliyah came out of her room running towards me; "Good morning daddy."

"Good morning sweetheart, did you sleep well?" She nodded, "Good." i descended the stairs holding her hand.

Audrey came down right before we stepped into the living room, Aaliyah turned; "Good morning Aunt audrey." she greeted.

"Good morning Aaliyah, you had a good sleep?"

"Yes, i even dreamt about the candy man."

"You did?"

"Yes, it was funny." Aaliyah giggled.

"I bet you laughed in your sleep." aaliyah nodded, she was laughing with audrey as we got into the living room where the official associates including judge morris were sitted.

"Good morning Mr and Mrs Sullivan." they all stood up.

"Good morning gentlemen, please sit." i said, i sat on the two sitter couch, audrey sat with me and placed Aaliyah in between us.

"I'm sorry but the child cannot be here for this, we'll call her when we need her." one of the associates said. I called for agatha to come take Aaliyah upstairs, unsure of what to do, audrey fumbled with her nails.

'What the hell is she doing?' i thought

"Gummy bear, please come close to me, will you." she smiled and drew closer, i placed my hands around her to pull her even closer so she would lean on me, it felt so nice.

"Calm down and follow my lead." i whispered into her ears, she looked up and gave me a half smile.

"So, shall we begin? My wife needs to be at the office."

"Is she supposed to do that? It's your honeymoon. And why didn't you take a trip?" the questions started.

"Well, if you know who my wife is, you would know why her company needs her. Trips, we can afford anytime, anyday...and we are still on our honeymoon, except you also want details of what goes on in our bedroom." audrey gasped, "Don't worry love, i won't spill." i kissed her forehead. It's not like anything intimate was going on though, but they didn't have to know that, they just needed blind conviction that this marriage was real and then get their asses out of my house.
