CHAPTER THIRTEEN

"I know the circumstances surrounding this marriage between you and my grandson. So you do not need to pretend whenever you're around me, you also do not owe me anything as well." I was so relieved to hear that, i smiled and nodded, she tapped my hand and added; "Go unpack, then come downstairs for lunch." "Alright, thank you grandma sullivan." I said, then left the room to go unpack. When i was done, i came downstairs to have lunch, mason wasn't back yet, so it was just grandma sullivan and I. We ate without talking and i could sense her staring from time to time but i was unbothered. After lunch, i asked her if i could see around and she obliged, agatha showed me around. The balcony connecting the four rooms upstairs, i saw a baby crater in one of them, probably where Aaliyah slept as a baby. I saw the poolside at the opposite side of the mansion, the study where mason's office was and when we arrived at the library, i refused to leave, it had all kind of book. "I'll be here a while, you can go." i said to agatha. I picked a book and began to read, i got so engrossed in it that when i finished and check the time, it was seven pm. "Ma'am, dinner is ready." agatha came to inform me. "Is mason back?" "No ma'am, Mr Sullivan hasn't returned." "Grandma Sullivan?" "She had dinner in her room an hour ago, she took her medication and is already in bed." "Oh...okay." I guess I was having dinner alone, i dropped the book i just finished reading and followed agatha out. I got to the dining table and sat on the long thing, i was served the meal and i began to eat. This house was a lot more bigger than my parents house, there were about seven to ten domestic staffs in the house, yet it felt so empty. I wondered how Aaliyah would be doing, i would have called to ask but i didn't want to concern myself with the family affairs since i wouldn't be here for long. After dinner, i retired to my room, i took a shower and got into bed. I dialed Amy; "Finally." she said immediately she answered. I chuckled, "I'm sorry, i should have called sooner." "You should have, how are you?" "Good, the household gave me a warm welcome." "Household?" "Yeah, he has about ten staffs, then i met his grandmother." "Grandma Sullivan? No one had seen or heard from her since the accident, how is she?" Amy said, sounding like she knew her personally, but it was just her doctor instincts to care. "She should be alright, i bet mason makes sure she has the best medical attention." "You sound like you do not care about anyone or anything in that house." i could hear the irritation in her voice. "i can't afford to care or get attached to anyone, it could be complicating for me." "I understand, but don't be a heartless fake wife." she chuckled. "I will try." i replied Mason's P.O.V I arrived home, grandma had gone to bed and so had Audrey, well i thought she had. Entering the bedroom, i heard her conversation, she was probably talking to her cousin. I wanted to apologize for coming late but then i heard her say she couldn't afford to care for anyone here as it would be complicated when all this was over, she was right. I went ahead to take a shower so i could get some sleep, i was bringing Aaliyah home tomorrow, the paperworks from the court to the hospital to having to deal with dianne would be hectic. Dianne causing a scene at the hospital was something i dread for Aaliyah, she was already feeling better and i do not want her to experience such drama in her young life. I love my daughter so much to have to put her through that, she didn't deserve a mother like Dianne, eight years with her was hell and i'm glad she's out of my life. Ready to leave, i turned the doorknob and it opened, i was surprised it wasn't locked. Seeing how she made living with me seem like a problem, she was so comfortable sleeping without a care in the world. I stood there and watched her sleep as she hugged a pillow, she curled up into a ball, i carefully walked over and covered her up with the quilt she had kicked off the bed. I left her room and hurried downstairs; "Let's go." i said to brian "You're leaving quite early, without even having breakfast." i heard grandma's voice, i turned and there she was in the sitting room, i walked over to place a kiss on her head. "Good morning grandmother." "Does she know you're leaving?" she asked, taking sip of her tea. "No, i didn't want to wake her and besides, does she have to know about what i do?" "Fake or not, she's your wife in the eyes of the law. You need to acknowledge that, this is an unfamiliar place for her, don't make her feel uncomfortable with your nonchalant and aloof behavior." "Grandmother....." "You may go Mason." I reserved what i wanted to say next, she wasn't in support of this whole arrangement and she was still mad at me for dragging audrey into this. Audrey's P.O.V I woke up at eight am, for a strange place, i slept surprisingly good, no nightmare, no discomfort or trouble sleeping. Agatha came to call for breakfast, i had my bath and put on some clothes to go downstairs. "You're awake, good." "Good morning grandma sullivan." "Did you sleep well?" "Yes i did." "Good." she said and continued eating, i joined her as soon as i was served. Half way into the meal, the butler came; "Mrs Sullivan, you have a guest." "Please call me Audrey." "No, he cannot......
