CHAPTER TWENTY TWO

Audrey's P.O.V

I was having a meeting in the conference room with the manager of Apex advertising company and enzo. Mason barged into the room and his attention was on no one but enzo;

"Mason?" i called

"Mr Sullivan, It's so good to see you." Mr Bassett said

Mason didn't bat an eyelid, his gaze remained on enzo; "Audrey, what is he doing here?"

"Um...excuse me please, I'll be right back. " i said and gently pulled mason out of the room and straight to my office. "What are you doing here? What were you thinking barging in there?" i asked

"What is your ex boyfriend doing here?" he asked

"I owe you no explanation."

"Yes you do, you are my wife!" he yelled

"Shhh, bring your voice down. Enzo works at the advertising company that handles my ad campaign, happy now?"

"Ask for someone else."

"No, i specifically asked for him."

"Why? Because you miss him? You want him back?"

I gave him a hard stare, i rolled my eyes and turned to leave but he held my hand and pulled me towards him. My body slammed against his and he wrapped his hand around my waist, locking me in;

"What are you doing? Let me go." i tried to slip away.

"Answer the question, do you want him."

"No! i don't."

"Then let him go, ask for someone else."

"No, i won't do that."

"Then i'll go out there and tell them we're married and i do not want your ex around you."

"You can't do that, you agreed not to interfere in my affairs."

The door opened and audrey jerked away from me, enzo came in and said;

"Is everything okay? Dre are you alright?"

"I...."

"Her name is audrey and she is fine. Next time you knock and wait till you're told to come in." Mason said

"I'm fine, go back to the conference room." i said, enzo hesitated, but left eventually. I turned to mason, i didn't know why he cared so much about what i did with enzo, "You need to leave mason, i will see you at home." i said and walked away.

I returned to the conference room and continued with the meeting, after it was over, enzo followed me to my office. He insisted on knowing my relationship with mason;

"You both were on first name bases, what's going on Dre, are you in a relationship with him?"

"That is none of your business, and my name is audrey. Call me Dre one more time."

"Audrey please listen to me, he's not good for you." he approached me.

"Step back." i said

"Please... " he came closer to me.

"Don't come any closer enzo!" i yelled

"Are you so scared of me? I really do care about you, i really do love you audrey." he closed the space between us and tried to kiss me, when i refused, he slapped me across the face.

"Ah!" i yelped in pain, he turned me around and gripped my neck, he forced me down on the table with both hands behind my back. "Let go enzo!" i yelled and struggled, he fiddled his belt and i knew what he was trying to do. "Let me go now!" i screamed, the door opened and mason rushed in to pull enzo away from me.

"Get out now!" he yelled at enzo.

"Why should i? She's my woman and you're intruding in our lives." Enzo said, mason punched him in the face and before enzo could react, brian came in and dragged enzo out.

Mason turned to look at me, "Are you alright?" he asked, i nodded and without a word he stormed out of the office.

I waited so long for this to happen, i endured his presence all this while just to get him to attempt this, finally he did and i was happy he did, now i've got him. I took the camera hidden at the flower vase by the sofa and left my office.

Mason's P.O.V

How stupid could she have been, working with her ex boyfriend who constantly abused her physically and sexually in the past. I was so pissed, i wondered what would have happened if i hadn't walked in, i waited patiently for her to arrive.

The door opened and she walked in, "You're late."

"It's only nine pm mason, besides, i had a lot to do."

"How many times has he abused you sexually?"

"I beg your pardon?"

"Your nightmares, he's responsible, isn't he? How many times has he abused you?"

Her mouth opened and closed severally, i stepped toward her and she stepped back. "Mason you don't need to know, i can handle myself."

"It didn't look that way when i came into the office to see his filthy hands all over you."

"I didn't ask for your help, i was fin....."

"Damn it audrey! Do you like it whenever he does it to you?!" i yelled and she jerked, "Why do you have nightmares about it then?! Is that your fantasy? To get r***d? huh?"

She looked at me with disgust, i grabbed her and pulled her towards the bed, i pushed her on it and hovered on top of her; "What are you doing?" she asked, her voice shakily.

"Maybe i should fulfill your fantasy."

"Get off me mason." i kissed her lips aggressively, when i pulled back, she was gasping for air. "Stop this...please." her begging aroused me even more. I kissed her again and again. I was so angry at her behavior, she was always refusing my help when she clearly needed it. It made me think she actually wanted enzo to molest her every time and yet she acts like she didn't want it. She struggled and pushed, she hit my chest repeatedly, she kicked and scratched but i didn't bulge. Finally she stopped, then i released her and she just laid there as tears spilled from her eyes, she carefully stood up...i walked out of the room angrily. I got into my study and i poured myself a drink from the bottle of brandy sitting on my table. I guess i must have taken it too far, i shouldn't have reminded her of such a painful experience. My phone beeped and i opened it to hear her voice again:

"Amy i've got him."

"Who?"

"Enzo."

"What happened?"

"As expected, he tried to force himself on me at the office."

"What? Are you okay? I told you this was a terrible idea, did he hurt you?"

"I'm fine, i got him on camera though, the one i planted in my office."

"You went through all this trouble, got slapped and almost r***d for this?"

"It was worth it, now i have what i need to ruin his career and his life."

I stopped playing it, the change of wardrobe, the makeups, she did all this for that? I misjudged her, i thought she wanted him back. I allowed my anger to get the better of me, i didn't like the fact that i cared so much about her, it made me crazy when i saw him so close to her in that manner. Henceforth i decided to stay out of her way, she needed to do whatever she wanted to do to him, i wasn't going to bother her anymore. I would show up whenever i feel she needed me and disappear when she doesn't, that's how it's going to be from now on.

'No more getting involved with each other's affairs, no more getting attached, i need to control my feelings and focus on mending my reputation. Even if it means breaking a promise i never made.' I thought. Draining the liquid from the glass, i proceeded to the guest room for the night, her nightmare won't wake me up there.

Audrey's P.O.V

The next morning, i woke up and hurriedly took my bath, got dressed and headed out. Grandma Sullivan insisted i had breakfast but i didn't want to face mason so early in the morning, i was still embarrassed with the way he acted last night. I even had a dream again but this time it wasn't enzo, it was mason kissing and caressing me, but i didn't hate it, i liked and it pissed me off.

I got to the office and called for my manager;

"Mr Erin please call Apex advertising company, tell Mr Bassett i do not want to work with his company anymore. You have forty-eight hours to find another company for the ad campaign."

"And if he asks what the reason is, what do i tell him." Erin asked

"Tell him to check his email."

"Yes ma'am." Erin left my office.

I poured myself a cup of coffee to calm my nerves, i hated the way i felt, i didn't want to feel this way anymore. So i decided to go to a bar with Amy later to get a bit of fun after work.
