I waited anxiously, and that’s when’ she put her palm down and sign the papers.

My face immediately changed when she had done that, it was like I had accomplished something I had been anticipating for.

It made my heart merry to see her do that.

She raised her head to look at me, a smile on her face as she stretched her hand to me.

“Congratulations, you are hired” she said.

Ofcourse I was.

“Thank you Maam” I responded with a curt smile.

“Why don’t I show you were you will be staying” she rose to her feet and I followed behind her.

The interior of the home was so beautiful and breathtaking, it felt like a different world entirely.

She stopped in front of a room and pushed open the door,

“This will be your room” she said.

I stepped into it, it was five times bigger than the small apartment I was lodging in at the moment.

It made me wonder, if this was my room then how big was theirs.

“Do you like it?” She asked.

“Yes, I do” I nodded.

“Good,” she said and leaned her back in the the door.

“Let me make one thing straight, I don’t have the time to give three chances to anyone, once you make a mistake, you are out.

All the luxury that you are seeing now, which I am sure you have never witnessed, it will be gone to. Do I make myself clear” she said.

She was trying to exercise her authority, afterall I never regarded her as a nice person, she had a certain way of making people feel in inferior with her words while acting like she cared.

“I don’t make mistakes” I responded,

I have waited for this opportunity for months, why would I let a silly slip up ruin my chances of getting the revenge I wanted.

“That’s perfect” she said.

“I will give you a tour of the house” she said and I walked behind her.

“Lena” I heard a voice call her name.

“Yes Darling” she responded as we made it to the stairs.

And there he was, Lucien Lawson, my betrothed.

The moment I saw him, I froze in my tracks, almost scared that one look from him and he would see the resemblance between me and my parents. Afterall it’s been 15 years since we last saw each other.

I watched her hug him and the turned to look at me.

“Darling, this is Lyra, she will be working here from today henceforth” she introduced me.

I kept my eyes on him and I walked down the stairs, first impression always mattered to people like him.

He looked even more ravishing in person than in the pictures and videos that I saw, I could feel the cold sipping into my body, the way his eyes remained in mine, I’m sure it didn’t mean anything to him but it meant something to me.

I always knew he would grow up to be a breathtaking young man and I wasn’t wrong.

“It’s nice to meet you Sir” I said as I finally made it to them.

“Welcome” he said.

Just one words to me before he turned his focus to Lena.

“I will be in my office” he announced.

“Sure” she smiled and he walked away.

Even the view of watching him walk away like a dream.

“Everyday I feel so blessed to have him in my life, he is the best thing that has ever happened to me, don’t you think so” she asked.

I gave her a little smile instead, if I did speak my mind then she would lick the hint of jealously from my tone.

I kept my hands behind my back as I waited for to take the first step.

“When I first saw him, I knew I had to have him.

Have you ever had something or someone like that?” She kept biting down that road.

“Felt this need to have that person otherwise you won’t be able to breathe properly” she added.

“Not really” I shook my head.

“Oh well, what can I say, it really is a magical feeling” she says.

Then she began walking,

“When I first saw him, he was supposed to get married to some poor girl like that, I can’t even remember her name or whatever, but that’s didn’t work out.”

Her name was Adele, and no she wasn’t poor, she had everything she could ever asked for until everything was taken from her in a flash.

“They weren’t meant to be, you know, like when you find your soulmate or true love, no one else would be able to stand in your way” she said.

Soulmate, I almost laughed at the silly words coming out of her mouth.

“Well this is the kitchen, the meal plan is already on the calendar, just filled through it and we won’t have any problems.

Is that okay?”

“Yes, it is”

“Thank you Maam” I greeted her before she left and she just smiled.
