Lucas POV:
I rip the throat from the last rogue.
Done, I thought. That was 15 in the last week. What the hell was going on.
I shifted back and had just got my clothes on when I felt my phone buzzing in my pocket. They must have just finished their meeting I thought. Total waste of time in my opinion. That little prick in the south was just stalling and trying to build up his forces. I was ready to rip all their throats out, but my Beta advised me we had to go, to at least look interested in peace. With the constant rogue attacks here, I couldn’t let our guard down by leaving so I sent him in my place. People like Theo more than me, my pack aren’t scared of him, the way they are of me. It’s fine I like that they don’t f**k with me. If it wasn’t pack law I probably wouldn’t have a Beta. The elders are really the only people I listen to and even then I still do what I want. I know in the south they call me a monster. At the age of 27 I still haven’t found my mate, something my pack are gutted about. I think they think a mate will soften me, but they are wrong, I’m not bothered at all right now about having another burden on my shoulders.
“Speak.” I bark at Theo
“Alpha, I wouldn’t normally call you but I have something important to tell you.”
“Theo you and I both know your not there to sign any treaty so what could be important enough for you to interrupt me?!”
I stop myself as that was a little harsh…
“Sorry I didn’t mean to snap I’m still pent up from the hunt, what’s up Theo?” I ask slightly nicer.
“I think I’ve found our Luna.” He saids.
I feel my heart stop. “What?!.” I ask him and he repeats its again. He’s talking about a Beta’s daughter and sensing something and then said it confirmed it when he was looking through my personal files that I keep on me and lent him with all my responses in it. She reacted to them.
“There’s only one problem.” Theo slows down.
Only one?! Her being my mate in the first place is a problem. I’m now in a position I can’t get out of. Like I said I don’t need the burden of having a mate on me at the moment. I’m about to go to war, have rogues attacking from every direction and now will have a she wolf I have to protect. Great.
“What’s the problem?” I ask curiously but abruptly.
“She’s 19 in a month.”
Fuck.
Time stops still around me. There’s no way I can leave my mate alone there when she comes on heat.
Great, now I’m going to have to go mark her and drag her back with me. Il look even more like a monster now…
