The broken boy

Zander watched that boy lay on his bed. He looked distressed twisting and turning in his bed. it looked like he had a fever. He was mumbling something... "no, no, please, stop. I am sorry!! Please"

Zander couldn't help but sit next to him and hold him in his arms as he watched him. He tried to wake the boy up earlier, but it didn't end well. The boy would open his eyes for a second and its as if he thinks Zander was a monster, he screamed and thrash around until he calmed down and fall back asleep.

Zander didn't know what to do so he called Nicky, his trusted family doctor and friend. She was spunky and a bit quirky, but she was a medical prodigy. She had photographic memory and graduated med school at the age of 16.

Zander's parents had found her begging on the streets in a very poor town a little over 14 years ago. She was young, around 8 years of age. Zander's parents felt sorry for her and decided to recruit her to become a maid to the estate. but due to her talent, she had gained the spot of becoming one of their trust doctors.

Zander and Nicky were very close. They attended the same school and lived in the same house for over 8 years. Zander being the "dumb" one never failed to be outshined by Nicky. That was until a few years ago, Nicky went to a residency program to become a doctor.

Once Nicky was a doctor at the age of 20, the family asked her to become one of their personal doctors on the medical team. She of course instantly agreed to this position.

Back to present time

"Hey! Its been a while since you called me! how have you been?! How can I provide my assistance master Zander?" Nicky answered the phone in a cheerful voice.

Zander rolled his eyes "enough with this master stuff Nicky, I am calling you because I have an emergency"

"Sure, ill be right over" responded Nicky.

20 minutes later Nicky burst in the house.

"Can you ever just come like a normal person?" asked zander

"NOPE" Nicky responded with a big smile. "anyways, I'm here, what is the emergency?"

Zander hesitated and said "it is better if I just show you" he led Nicky into his room and showed him the boy "I didn't know who else to call, but he has been like this for the last 2 hours. I changed his cloth but.... he.... Doesn't look good"

When they got to the room, Kyle was screaming with his body stretched in a weird position. He then tried to get off the bed but fell instantly. Zander rushed to him but was hit in the face by accident. He stepped back for a second before recollecting his thoughts. Nicky pulled out a syringe with some sort of clear liquid and injected into the boy. He calmed down and then Nicky and Zander put the boy back on the bed.

Nicky gave a sympathetic look to Zander and the boy. "I just gave him something to calm him down. Who is he?"

"He is just some random kid that goes to my school, I saw him just laying on the ground like this. he was covered in his own blood and some other substance when I brought him here.... Well look for yourself"

Zander slowly lifted the boy's shirt to show Nicky.

"OH MY.....!! Who would do such things!!!" Nicky shouted in surprise, but zander covered her mouth halfway and pulled her out of the room

"I don't know, but I have a feeling he was being bullied at school. they were saying some nasty stuff about him." replied zander in a whisper tone outside the door.

"School kids did this?! did you see the marks on his neck?! That looked like a shock collar. Do you really think the kids at Neverfalls would be capable of this?!"

"I believe so, they said he did drugs and got into fights... but this I am not sure what to think."

"WO..... let me have a look at him and let you know once I am done. I will also bandage the opened wounds and put some cream on them, so he doesn't get an infection. I will also prescribe something to help his fever"

"Thanks, I knew I could count on you."

"No probs! Just know you own me one!" winked Nicky.
