Time had passed, and it had been one month since Taehyung started working at JJK Enterprises. During this time, he had grown incredibly close to the other key officials in the office, earning the trust of Jungkook, the enigmatic CEO. Taehyung was well aware of Jungkook’s feelings for him; he could feel the weight of Jungkook’s gaze on him as he worked, the way those stolen glances lingered a moment longer than necessary. Though Jungkook had yet to confess his feelings, Taehyung could sense the depth of his admiration, which made his heart ache.
Taehyung was also painfully aware of the emotions he harboured for Jennie, a love that felt electric and overwhelming whenever he thought about it. But he was determined to stay focused on his mission. He wanted to bring justice to Lee Wooshik’s sister and her family, fully understanding the pain of losing someone you love to violence. However, as he navigated his feelings, Taehyung found himself grappling with the possibility that Jungkook might be innocent.
After spending a month observing Jungkook’s behaviour, Taehyung recognized the complexity of his boss. Jungkook exuded a cold, dark aura typical of a mafia leader, but there were moments when he displayed an unexpected innocence that made Taehyung’s heart flutter. During a conversation with Namjoon, Taehyung decided to share his thoughts, suggesting that Jungkook might not be the villain everyone believed him to be. Namjoon, who had conducted his research into Jungkook’s past missions, agreed to speak with Wooshik and ask for evidence that could prove Jungkook’s innocence.
However, Wooshik presented proof that implicated Jungkook as the murderer of his sister. The evidence was damning, and Taehyung's heart sank as he realized that his hope of Jungkook’s innocence was shattered. Determined to seek justice, Taehyung resolved to take down Jungkook and see him imprisoned. Yet, he was also committed to gaining Jungkook’s trust, wanting to be the person Jungkook relied on more than anyone else in his life. Taehyung was willing to use his charm and allure to make Jungkook fall for him, knowing he had the skills to capture Jungkook’s heart.
Discovering that Jungkook was gay felt like a golden opportunity for Taehyung. He knew he had to wait for the right moment to deepen their bond and earn Jungkook’s unwavering trust. Meanwhile, Jungkook was falling for Taehyung, enchanted by his presence and the way he seemed to draw him in with every interaction. For the first time, Jungkook was experiencing the intoxicating feeling of love, and he was helplessly captivated by Taehyung’s charm.
........................................................................
It was another day at the office, and Taehyung was working peacefully at his desk when Jungkook called out to him, breaking the calm atmosphere.
“Mr. Kim, bring me a cup of coffee, please,” Jungkook said, his voice commanding yet casual.
“Yes, sir,” Taehyung replied, standing up from his desk and heading to the coffee bar. As he prepared the coffee, he couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was different in the office today. He had overheard snippets of conversations hinting at an important delivery involving files from Jeon Yoongi, Jungkook’s brother and a notorious hacker. Taehyung was surprised to learn that Jungkook had a brother, especially one who was a hacker, though he couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride knowing he was a more skilled hacker himself.
Once the coffee was ready, Taehyung approached Jungkook, who was busy arranging files on his desk. He placed the cup in front of Jungkook and said, “Sir, your coffee is ready.”
“Ahh, thank you, Mr. Kim,” Jungkook replied, his focus still on the files. “Um, can you deliver these to the IT department?” he asked, turning to face Taehyung. But as he stepped forward, his foot caught on the edge of the desk, and he stumbled. In a split second, Taehyung reached out and caught him by the arm, preventing him from falling. Jungkook instinctively clutched Taehyung’s shirt for stability, but the files slipped from his hands, scattering across the floor.
Taehyung found himself lost in Jungkook’s gaze for the first time. The beauty of Jungkook’s bambi-like eyes, his button nose, and his cherry-plump lips captivated him. Taehyung’s heart raced as he admired the way Jungkook held onto him, and he couldn’t help but want to kiss those lips adorned with a shining lip ring. His eyes then drifted to Jungkook’s exposed neck, unmarked and inviting; he felt an overwhelming desire to claim that space as his own. The only word that escaped his lips was, “Beautiful…”
“W-what?” Jungkook stammered, pulling Taehyung from his reverie.
“Ahh, I… I’m sorry, sir,” Taehyung said, clearing his throat and still holding onto Jungkook’s arm.
“Um, will you let me go, or are you going to hold me for the whole day?” Jungkook teased, a playful glint in his eyes.
Flustered, Taehyung quickly released Jungkook and began picking up the scattered papers, his cheeks pink with embarrassment.
Jungkook leaned back against his desk, sipping his coffee. “Mr. Kim, you really look beautiful when you blush,” he said with a teasing tone.
“I-I’m n-not blushing,” Taehyung stammered, still focused on gathering the papers.
Jungkook chuckled, but their moment was interrupted by a loud knock on the door. With a frown, Jungkook called out, “Come in.”
The door swung open, and Mr. Park, the head of the IT department, rushed in, his laptop clutched tightly in his hands. He looked panicked, and Taehyung could sense the urgency in the air.
“What happened, Mr. Park?” Jungkook asked, his voice calm but firm.
“Sir, the… the file…” Mr. Park stuttered, clearly flustered.
“Relax, Mr. Park. Take a deep breath and tell me calmly,” Jungkook instructed, and Taehyung leaned in, curious about the situation.
Mr. Park took a deep breath before continuing, “Sir, I think the file sent by Mr. Jeon has been intercepted by another mafia group before it could be delivered here…”
“What?! Are you serious? What are you talking about? Hyung always sends the files with top-notch security! How could it be captured?” Jungkook’s voice rose in anger, his eyes flashing with fury. Taehyung felt a chill at the intensity of Jungkook’s reaction.
“It is possible, sir,” Mr. Park replied, trying to maintain his composure.
“Urgh, do something, Mr. Park! I want that file back in 15 minutes! Otherwise, you know what I’m capable of!” Jungkook growled, his frustration palpable.
Taehyung smirked, seeing an opportunity to prove himself and gain Jungkook’s trust further. “Um, sir, can I try to recover it?” he asked, adopting an innocent expression.
“You know all about hacking and that stuff?” Jungkook replied, his tone skeptical.
“Y-yes, sir, a little bit,” Taehyung admitted, his confidence growing.
“But sir, it’s a highly confidential file,” Mr. Park interjected.
“Can you recover it, Mr. Kim?” Jungkook asked, ignoring Mr. Park’s concerns.
“Maybe yes,” Taehyung replied, determination in his voice.
“Okay,” Jungkook said, nodding.
“Mr. Park, give your laptop to Mr. Kim,” Jungkook ordered.
“B-but sir…” Mr. Park hesitated.
“I SAID GIVE YOUR f*****g SHITTY LAPTOP TO MR. KIM!” Jungkook shouted, his anger boiling over.
Both Taehyung and Mr. Park flinched at the sudden outburst, but Mr. Park quickly complied, handing over the laptop to Taehyung.
Taehyung settled onto the couch, fingers flying over the keyboard as he began to hack into the system. He accessed the network, bypassing security protocols with practiced ease. “Alright, let’s see what we can do here,” he murmured to himself, his focus unwavering as he navigated through firewalls and encryption layers.
After 15 intense minutes, he finally exclaimed, “It’s recovered, sir!”
Jungkook, who had been pacing anxiously, rushed over and peered at the screen. A smile broke across his face as he saw the file. “Is it the file?” he asked, his excitement palpable.
“Yes,” Taehyung confirmed, pride swelling in his chest.
“Thank you, thank you so much, Mr. Kim! This file is crucial—it could have destroyed my entire career!” Jungkook exclaimed, pulling Taehyung into a tight hug.
Taehyung’s eyes widened in surprise, but a smirk soon crept onto his face as he patted Jungkook’s back. “It’s all okay, sir.”
Jungkook quickly released him, his cheeks flushed. “I think now you’re blushing,” Taehyung teased, a playful glint in his eyes.
“N-no, I-I’m not b-blushing! Y-you should get back to work, okay?” Jungkook stammered, a flustered smile on his lips.
With that, both of them returned to their tasks, the air between them charged with unspoken feelings and newfound trust.

The remainder of the day passed in a comfortable rhythm as Taehyung and Jungkook settled into their work at the office. Taehyung felt a sense of accomplishment after successfully recovering Jungkook’s important file, and it didn’t go unnoticed. When lunchtime rolled around, they shared a meal together, filled with lively discussions and bursts of laughter. Each joke and playful jab reinforced the bond forming between them, and Taehyung couldn’t help but feel that Jungkook was beginning to fully trust him.
As they finished their meal, Taehyung’s mind shifted to the next phase of his plan. He wanted to make Jungkook more friendly and open so he could gather more information. The idea of forging a deeper connection with his boss was both exciting and daunting. Taehyung knew that if he could break down some of the barriers between them, it would only help in his quest for justice.
Yet, beneath the surface of their camaraderie, Taehyung grappled with his own feelings about the situation. He had seen his fair share of darkness in life, and while he could forgive and forget many things, murder was a line he couldn’t cross. The pain of injustice weighed heavily on him, especially when he thought about Wooshik’s sister. Taehyung understood the depths of suffering all too well; he had lived through his own share of turmoil. Now, he felt a responsibility to ensure that someone received the justice they deserved.

“Hey, Jungkook—oh, I’m sorry, sir!” Taehyung quickly corrected himself, a hint of embarrassment creeping into his voice.
Jungkook chuckled, a warm smile spreading across his face. “You can call me Jungkook, Mr. Kim,” he replied, his tone friendly and inviting.
“B-but—” Taehyung began, but Jungkook cut him off with a playful wave of his hand.
“No ‘buts’! From today on, we’re friends, okay? So, Kim Taehyung, will you be my friend?” Jungkook asked, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
Taehyung couldn’t help but internally smirk at the unexpected turn of events. “Hahaha, yes, of course!” he exclaimed, his heart feeling lighter.
“Great! Then it’s settled. We’re friends now, Tae,” Jungkook declared, his smile infectious. “Now, let’s get back to what you were saying before I interrupted you.”
Taehyung felt a rush of excitement at their newfound friendship. “Okay, then! So, about the project we were discussing…” he began, feeling more at ease as they transitioned into a more relaxed conversation.
After discussing the project file, Taehyung stood up and approached his desk, calling out to get Jungkook's attention.
“Hey, Jungkook,” Taehyung said, breaking the comfortable silence that had settled between them. “You know, I really appreciate how you’ve been trusting me more lately. It means a lot.”
Jungkook looked up, his expression softening. “You’ve earned it, Tae. I can see how dedicated you are to your work, and it’s nice to have someone I can rely on.”
Taehyung smiled, feeling a warmth spread through him. “Thanks, that really motivates me to do even better. But I also want you to know that I’m here for you, not just as your assistant but as a friend. If you ever need to talk about anything… I’m all ears.”
Jungkook raised an eyebrow, curiosity piqued. “Anything, huh? Even the serious stuff?”
“Especially the serious stuff,” Taehyung replied earnestly. “I know life can get complicated, and sometimes it helps to have someone to share that burden with.”
Jungkook nodded slowly, contemplating Taehyung’s words. There was a flicker of understanding in his eyes, and for a moment, Taehyung felt like they were on the verge of something deeper.
As the day wore on, Taehyung remained focused on his goal. He wanted to get closer to Jungkook, not just for his own sake, but for the sake of justice. He knew that navigating this path wouldn’t be easy, but he was determined to find a way to make things right for Wooshik’s sister. With each shared laugh and conversation, he felt that he was one step closer to that goal.
