CHAPTER 4:
The bar was louder than usual that night.
Music filled the room, glasses clinked against tables, and people moved beneath the golden lights without a care in the world.
But at the far end of the room, one man sat completely still.
Liang Wei.
The youngest CEO in the capital.
Cold. Powerful. Untouchable.
At least, that was what everyone believed.
He lifted his glass and glanced around the room absentmindedly.
Then he saw her.
His fingers stopped.
For several seconds, he simply stared.
It was her.
The woman from the strange encounter that had refused to leave his thoughts.
She was sitting alone at a table, looking completely different from the way he remembered her.
Liang Wei frowned.
Why is she here?
He tried to look away.
He couldn't.
There was something about her that disturbed his usual calm. It wasn't only her beauty. There was something else—something he couldn't explain.
And then he noticed that she wasn't feeling well.
She stood from her seat.
She took one step.
Then another.
She stumbled.
Liang Wei immediately rose.
Before she could fall, he reached her.
She looked up at him with unfocused eyes.
“You again…”
He sighed.
“You shouldn't be walking around alone.”
“I can walk,” she insisted.
She took another step.
Almost immediately, she lost her balance again.
Liang Wei caught her before she hit the floor.
“Clearly.”
She frowned at him.
“You're annoying.”
“And you're stubborn.”
She tried to pull herself away, but her legs weren't cooperating.
Liang Wei glanced around.
“Where's your family?”
“I don't need anyone.”
“That wasn't my question.”
She didn't answer.
Instead, she suddenly leaned against the car when he helped her outside.
Liang Wei opened the passenger door.
“Get inside.”
She stared at him suspiciously.
“Why?”
“Because I'm taking you somewhere safe.”
“I don't trust you.”
“Good.”
She blinked.
He continued calmly, “You shouldn't trust strangers.”
For some reason, that made her laugh.
“You're strange.”
“So I've been told.”
He drove quietly.
For the first few minutes, she stared out the window.
Then she turned toward him.
“What's your name?”
“You already know it.”
“No, I don't.”
“Liang Wei.”
She repeated it softly.
“Liang… Wei.”
Something about hearing his name from her lips made him tighten his grip on the steering wheel.
She leaned slightly toward him.
“You're very handsome.”
His eyes remained on the road.
“Don't say things you don't mean.”
“I mean it.”
He said nothing.
A few seconds later, she reached toward him.
Liang Wei immediately moved slightly away.
“Sit properly.”
She frowned.
“Why?”
“Because I'm driving.”
She smiled sleepily.
“You're nervous.”
“I am not.”
“You are.”
He ignored her.
When they finally arrived at his residence, he helped her inside and placed her safely on the couch.
He kept his distance.
“Rest here. I'll call someone you trust.”
She barely heard him.
Within minutes, she fell asleep.
Liang Wei stood there for a moment.
He looked at the mysterious woman who had somehow entered his life twice.
Then his expression hardened.
Something wasn't right.
The strange symbol.
Her family.
The feeling he experienced whenever he was near her.
There was a secret surrounding this girl.
And he intended to discover it.
---
Morning came.
She opened her eyes slowly.
For a moment, she didn't recognize the room.
Then she sat upright.
“Where am I?”
A door opened.
Liang Wei walked in.
The moment she saw him, her eyes widened.
“You!”
He stopped.
“You're awake.”
She looked around.
Then back at him.
“Did you… touch me?”
His expression immediately changed.
“No.”
“Then why am I here?”
“You were about to fall at the bar. I brought you somewhere safe.”
She stared at him suspiciously.
“You expect me to believe that?”
“I don't care whether you believe me.”
His calmness irritated her.
She stood.
“Then I shouldn't be here.”
She walked toward the door.
“Wait.”
She turned.
Liang Wei pointed toward the table.
“Your belongings.”
She grabbed them.
For a moment, neither spoke.
Their eyes met.
Something strange passed between them.
Neither understood it.
Neither wanted to admit it.
Finally, she looked away.
“Thank you.”
It was barely a whisper.
Then she walked out.
Liang Wei watched the door close behind her.
For the first time in years, the man who never cared about anyone found himself wondering about one particular woman.
Who was she?
And why did his heart refuse to forget her?
