I woke up to the flight attendant shaking my arm.
"Ma'am, please get ready for landing in 30 mins."
Shit, I slept through the entire flight? I looked out my window and saw nothing but the sun. I feel the warm light rays on my face. As we landed, I got my phone out of my bag and called Ken.
"Hey sis, long time no talk."
"Ken, do you know where mom's old pack was?"
"Yeah, I'll send you the address. Just be careful Kat, OK? Love you." He says as he hangs up.
I typed in the address Ken gave me and called a cab. The cab driver was nervous about taking me to the woods, so he stopped 500 yards before my destination.
"Gracias," I say as I pay him for the ride. Looks like it's just my two feet and myself from now on. I walked down the path of the road for what seemed like forever. I reached a clearing in the road and sat down. I pull out my water bottle and soothe my scorching throat. Damn this Spanish weather. So hot and humid compared to back home in the mountains. As I put my bottle back in my bag, three men emerge from the woods, all with just shorts on and a blue rose tattooed on their chest over their hearts.
"You lost?" One of them spoke. He was easily 6 feet with sandy blonde hair and dark chocolate brown eyes.
"I'm looking for the alpha of the Blue Rosa pack," I stated.
"Why? What business do you have with our alpha?" The other one spoke. This one was a little shorter than the first. He has black hair and hazel eyes. That seemed to bore into my soul.
"I just need to speak with him. I'm Katerina Fuller from the Blood Opal pack in the states."
All three men gasped.
"Katerina? Is your mother Sandra?"
"Yes she is, and my father's name is John," I stated. Just because he wasn't my biological father doesn't matter to me. He raised me and took care of me when my real father couldn't or didn't want to.
"Come with us, Katerina. We will show you to Alpha Marcus."
Marcus. So that's his name. I followed them through the woods and into a small village. We walked to the pack house. Well, pack mansion. It's so much bigger than mine at home. The stony exterior adds character to the house and the entrance was grand. I look to my right and see sandy blonde's eyes glossing over. He's linking someone here.
"Alpha Marcus will be down shortly. You may sit in the common room to wait for him. He's finishing up with a meeting." All the men leave me in the doorway. I walked to the right, which looked like a kitchen and dining room combined. I saw an omega cooking as I rounded the corner.
"I'm sorry to interrupt, but can you please tell me where the common room is?" I ask her.
"It's fine dear, the common room is back that way to the left instead of the right."
"Thank you, Miss."
I walked back the way I went and went to the common room. It was more like a gaming room. There were couches and chairs everywhere with a big flat-screen TV on a stand. There were ping-pong machines and old-school arcade games all around. I sat on the big leather couch and waited. I only waited for 5 mins when I heard someone walking towards me. I turned to see who it was, only to see him. Marcus looks to be 6'5 and tone. His hair caught my attention, it's the exact same as mine. That same ruby red that sets fire in the sunlight, and his eyes are the same shade of blue.
"Katerina." He greets me with a hug. "You have no idea how happy I am to see you." He says as he squeezes me.
I'm left speechless. He knows me, he knows my name and actually hugged me. He lets me go and stares into my eyes.
"You're so beautiful, baby girl. Still have those blue eyes I see. What can I do for you?" He asks.
"What can you do for me?" I asked, enraged. "Well, how about telling me where you have been all these years? Why you never called? Why you never had my mother tell me the truth years ago about who I am?' I screamed at him.
"Katerina, please keep your voice down. I will answer all the questions for you if you calm down." I sat down and took a deep breath.
"Calm? OK, now I'll start with your first question. I have been here running a pack all these years. I did call but your mother didn't want me to talk to you. She wanted you to be happy and even though you had the right to know, we didn't tell you because John was more of a father than I ever could be. I tried to have your mother tell you 3 years ago the truth about me but she refused. She said you were going through a lot at the time, so I let it go. I kept pushing each year on your birthday for her to spill the truth because once you, become 17 you were going to find out anyway. I always kept tabs on you, of course, even though you weren't here. I still love and care about you. Your mother sent me pictures all the time you were growing up. Now does that answer your questions?" He asks me.
"Well most of them. Did you not want me? Was that it? Why didn't you fight my mother and demand to see me?"
"Katerina never say that I didn't want you. I've always wanted you, you are my baby girl and I love you with my whole heart. I didn't want to fight your mother and risk her hiding you away from me. I get so happy every time she sends me a new picture of you. You make me happy, Katerina. I love you and I always have." He hugged me so tight, I cried at the words he just said. So my dad does love me. He didn't abandon me and my mom, he just overlooked. Maybe now we can finally get to know one another.
"Ok, dad. I'm sorry just this is a lot to take in. I just found out a few days ago on top of being rejected by my mate and it's just a lot." I breathed out.
"I understand baby. But you now have the answers that you wanted. Do you wish to stay here or return home with your mother? I do have to contact her so the police don't get involved. That woman loves you more than life itself and she probably has already had 5 heart attacks and 7 strokes if you have been missing for a week now." He laughs.
I couldn't help but snort at his remark. Then I thought, maybe I should stay. This will give me the space and time I need to move on from the lies and hurt. It's my new beginning.
"Um, dad?" I looked at him.
"Think you can let me stay? I'll help out where I can. I want to be here with you. I want to learn from you to be the best alpha I can be."
"Of course, babygirl. You are always welcome here. As for being the best alpha you can be, it's not going to be easy, you know. You have to train until you break and when you do push more. It's hard but I can make you the best alpha, well besides me." He laughs.
I smile and hug my dad for all I'm worth. I'm finally home, I'm finally with my dad. I finally filled that empty void inside my heart that I didn't know existed until now.
"I'm ready dad. This is my new beginning with you and I can't wait to start." I grin.
"OK, then let's get you settled. Today is an off day. The real work starts tomorrow." He grabs my bag and carries it to my new room on the second floor. "This has always been your room, just in case your mother lets you come to see me from time to time. I update it every year with new clothes. Now get settled and rested. Dinner is at 6 and training starts at 5 am. So I'll see you then." He closes the door.
This is my new life, my second chance. I can't be normal, but I'll be the best damn alpha this world has ever seen.
