She felt it before she understood it.
Not danger.
Something that settled beneath her skin the closer he stood—slow, unfamiliar… and impossible to ignore.
He was inches away now.
Too close.
Close enough for her to see the faint shift in his crimson eyes as they traced her face—slowly, deliberately, like he was memorizing something he shouldn’t. Like he was trying to understand her… and failing.
“Why are you really here?” he asked again, his voice lower this time, softer—but heavier.
She tightened grip on her dagger, though it no longer felt like her strongest weapon.
“Maybe I wanted to see you and how do u know my name” she said.
The words slipped out before she could stop them.
And for the first time—
He paused.
His gaze sharpened, then softened slightly, searching her face as if expecting a lie… and finding none.
“Careful,” he murmured, stepping closer. His hand lifted, stopping just beside her face, not touching—yet close enough for her to feel it. “Curiosity can become something far more dangerous.”
She didn’t move.
Her back pressed against the rough bark, grounding her, but she barely noticed it anymore.
“Is that a warning,” she whispered, “or a promise?”
Something flickered in his eyes at that.
A faint breath left him, slower this time.
“You don’t know what you’re inviting.”
“Then show me.”
The words were quiet.
But bold enough to change everything.
His fingers moved then—slow, controlled—until they brushed her cheek.
Cold.
But not harsh.
The touch lingered, deliberate… testing her. Waiting for her to pull away.
She didn’t.
Her golden eyes held his, steady and unyielding, even as something unfamiliar tightened in her chest.
The distance between them faded.
“You should be afraid of me nyra,” he said, his voice dropping again, softer now—almost intimate.
“I’m not.”
He looked at her.
" who knows whether we are destined to be my dear Nyra"
This time, her answer came without hesitation.
His gaze fell just briefly to her lips.
Then back to her eyes.
Something shifted between them.
Not just tension.
Something deeper.
“You’re either very brave,” he murmured, “or very foolish.”
“Or maybe,” she whispered, leaning slightly into his touch without realizing it, “you’re not as frightening as you think.”
His hand stilled.
That single movement—small, almost nothing—felt louder than anything else.
His eyes darkened but he felt something heavier. Something harder to name.
“You’re wrong,” he said quietly.
But he didn’t move away.
Didn’t break the space between them.
Instead, he leaned closer, his presence surrounding her completely, closing off everything else.
“If I wanted to break you,” he murmured near her ear, his voice low and close enough to send a sharp shiver down her spine, “you wouldn’t be standing.”
Her breath caught.
Not from fear but From how close he was.
Her fingers tightened slightly against his chest as he pulled her closer, feeling the stillness beneath his skin. No warmth. No heartbeat.
And yet… he felt more real than anything else around her.
“Then why haven’t you?” she asked softly.
The question lingered between them.
He didn’t answer immediately.
His gaze returned to hers, slower this time, searching… as if looking for something he hadn’t expected to find.
And maybe… had.
Then—
“Because,” he said quietly, his voice lower than before, almost reluctant, “you’re the first thing that’s made me hesitate.”
The words settled between them.
Heavy.
And somehow…
That felt far more dangerous than anything else he could have done.
" why do I feel safe when am around him even when he tried to kill him"she could not sake the feeling off but apart from that there was another her creature watching them from the shadows and somehow Nyra could feel it's presence.
"What's wrong"Keal couldn't help but ask her because he sensed fear emitting from her.
"I just felt something watching us"
He looked everywhere and laughed.
" Really, like the what"
"I don't know probably a monster"
keal couldn't help but laugh so hard he almost fell on his knees.
"so our tough girl is actually afraid, qho could have know".
She looked up at him and walked away.
