At the hospital

Grace's POV "Wake up Jane, we need to get to the hospital early,I dragged her up from the bed, after a while of tapping and calling of her name. I helped her go to the bathroom and made sure she didn't fall or get injured, as she was still half asleep. We headed to the hospital the next day after taking a day off from work. Jane and I sat down patiently waiting to be attended to after we had got to the hospital. I was actually worried of what might have happened, as I cast a quick glance at her and she looked back immediately. "What? she asked thinking her disposition was ridiculous. "Nothing, I said, trying to make her feel normal. She is normal though, just that we are yet to know exactly what's wrong with her. I plugged in my earpiece and listened to my favorite song, also to while time away. The more reason we went to a government hospital was because we couldn't afford the exorbitant fees of private hospitals. To obtain medical card alone is enough to buy all the drugs needed, if I'm not capping. There the young doctor apparently in his early 30s walked in looking sprightly bright in his sparkling white coat. Showing off his stethoscope very predominantly on his neck,he walked through the ward greeting each of the patients admitted in the hospital and they all responded respectfully to him. Then suddenly, his eyes fell on a woman on a nearby bed, he went closer and held her hand in order to feel her pulse. He asked her some other necessary questions, which she answered too, after he had carried out some Minor checks on her. The young doctor, without wasting time immediately ordered stretcher to take her to theater for an operation. Even the midwives who had been supervising her treatment were obviously taken aback. As the woman was being wheeled to the operating room, one of the nurses asked the doctor "Are you sure, she is for surgery? The doctor did not mince words, he said to her "This is an ectopic pregnancy, there is no doubt about it. There foetus has to be taken out promptly. That was within minutes, the operation began. While this was going on, blood was being prepared for transfusion. Before long, the surgery was completed. The woman then was brought back to a special ward inorder to receive the blood transfusion and intense treatment. I was really marvelled at the detective nature of the doctor, who seemed to practice with dexterity. One of the nurses looked at us asking. "Have you obtained the hospital card? "No, we haven't, I quickly answered her, trying to know where to get it. She looked disdainfully " So you sat down comfortably, waiting to be attended to. You need to get your card first, she said pointing to where we could get one. I told Jane to sit, looking at how pale and weak she was and I immediately got the card. I indicated the name they were to put there, Jane, she was the sick one. If not for the vomiting, weakness and severe headache she felt, we wouldn't even bother coming at all. I only felt Jane should visit the hospital to avoid self medication. Aside that, Jane rarely felt sick as she was always healthily looking and strong. Besides, almost half of her earnings went on supplement, calcium, vitamins and all. Being immune to fungi, or any bacteria that could cause any disease or illness was an understatement, it won't touch her. But this time around, I couldn't withstand seeing her like that. After we we got the card, we still had to wait for about two hours. At that point, I was almost going to leave, because I had thousands of things to do at home, but I couldn't go. Not quite long, as I was about to stand up in annoyance, I saw one of the nurses wave at us. I immediately got the message and helped Jane stand up.We followed her to the doctor's office, adjacent to the Theater and entered "So how do you feel exactly? the same young doctor, who was now wearing a nerd glasses asked Jane, who was already lost in deep thoughts. "Earth to you......... Hey Jane, answer him, I said yelling at her. "Yeah, uhm, i ,i ........, so sorry, okay, I felt weak, dizzy and faint too. I vomited about two times too yesterday morning, Jane said, brushing see strands of her seeming to clock her face. "Hmmmm alright, so sorry about how you are feeling. We will be running some tests on you, most especially pregnancy test, the calm doctor said convincingly. I looked at Jane with a question on my face "can it be? " The realization Dawn on me, it could be possible and also positive. The symptoms are clear and vivid enough, I didn't even think of it.This is gonna be a big mess, if Jane is truly pregnant. We both knew how hard we struggled to survive. She wouldn't ever listen then, when I told her to be careful in her dealings with James, her boyfriend, who was really irresponsible to the core. Well I didn't conclude yet, since it was still a speculation. Jane looked at me, trying to hold back the tears that forcefully rolled down from her eyes to her cheeks. The doctor called the nurse, who was dressed in a snow white cloth. He instructed her to take us to the medical laboratory, where her blood was to be taken for the test. I followed her to where she would be tested and we were told when the results will be out. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ We got there early the day we were asked to come back for the results. " You can have your sit, please, the doctor said, facing the both of us. I followed Jane inorder to embrace her when we get to hear the results. "Congratulations, Miss Jane, you are two weeks pregnant. The test we conducted was positive, the doctor said folding his hands which revealed his firm and manicured nails. "Hmmmm Hmmmm" I heaved a sign of relief. At least isn't something terrible as I thought it was going to be. She looked at the doctor occasionally and then back to me to me. She caught the disappointed expression on my face, which I was trying so hard to hide. How could she? bring a child to this wicked world to suffer. I'm sure James was going to deny it vehemently. "Alright, doctor, thanks so much, we will be on our way now! I said dragging her in my arms, as we left his office. There was absolute decorum, as we headed back home. I counted buses and vehicle, as they moved pass us. I didn't know whether to blame her, chastise her, to encourage her or to keep quiet. I was totally confused in the dark. " Jane how come, what really Happened? I broke the silence after a while at home. She burst into tears, as if she was waiting for someone to pour it out to "I don't know how I got here, it Shouldn't even be this time, I never knew it would turn out this way, she said still crying. I didn't say anything else, I only did nothing but to console her. I took a handkerchief nearby and wiped her face, already red and fragile. "Sorry, baby, it's gonna be fine, okay? Just try and find a means to tell him or what do you feel? you never can tell, he might accept and take up his responsibility. "Thanks darling, that's what I will surely do, she said as she placed her head on my shoulder. I knew what this meant and I immediately pulled her to my chest, as her tears soaked my top.
