Edward's Pov She stepped into the ballroom wearing a blue dress that didn’t just silence the room it commanded it, the kind of silence that makes men forget their names and women remember why they stopped apologizing. It was satin, backless, effortless and when the chandelier lights caught the movement of the fabric, it looked less like she was walking and more like she was floating above the very floor we built our lives on. And I? I didn’t breathe. Not right away. Not when she met my eyes from across the room and then looked past me like I was a guest instead of a man who once held her heart. I had seen her in every mood tired, furious, silent, trembling, even laughing but I had never seen her like this before. She looked like she didn’t miss me. And that was a new kind of pain
