ADALIA

We have not spoken anything until the bus stopped. We got down and started walking towards his friend's house. I just kept on following him from behind. The whole sky was covered by dark clouds.

"Its gonna rain." I whispered.

A small rain drop splashed on my cheek and the rain drops eventually hardened. I smiled. I love rain. I spread my hands sideways feeling the rain.

"Yah! You'll catch cold" Kai shouted from far.

I ignored him, for me rain is a blessing from heaven and we have to welcome it. Suddenly the rain stopped hitting me. I opened my eyes annoyed only to look at a pair of eyes worried and concerned.

"Hey." I glared at Kai who was holding his jacket above us.

"YOU.WILL.CATCH.COLD" He said sternly holding my shoulders and kept close to him. I saw his eyes determined. I sighed there is no point in arguing. I'm almost drenched.

We half jogged towards the house. It felt strange and i had butterflies all over my body. Kai knocked the door, it was a traditional house surrounded by fields. I started to shiver in cold. He took a coat from his bag angrily and handed it to me. His eyes hard and cold. I covered myself with his coat and the door opened revealing a handsome young man. He looked at me first confused and then looked at Kai next to me. His face brightened up.

"Yah! What a pleasant surprise.” He said as he came out and hugged Kai tightly.

"Why didn't you tell you were coming." He asked Kai.

"Well, it's a surprise." Kai replied with his cute smile.

Kai's friend looked at me, I bowed at him.

"Hello." I greeted him politely.

He gasped covering his mouth with both of his hands. "Oh God did he recognize me?" I looked at him fearfully."Please don't."

"When did you get married?" He asked Kai.

"Huh-"

"Yeahhh, Congratulations my dear friend. She is really pretty."

"Hello my dear sister-in-law I'm Alex."

He bowed a little.

"I'm not his-"

"She is not my wife" Kai said coldly. "Aishh, why do everyone see her as my wife" he asked annoyed. Someway, what Kai said hurt me. I know I shouldn't be feeling this way. But I was hurt and I don't know why.

"Ah! Really. Then is she your girlfriend?" Alex asked confusedly.

"Do you want to die?" He asked angrily, pushing his friend aside and entered the house. His friend looked at me confused. he smiled.

"Please come inside, let me carry your bag." Alex got the bag and walked inside.

It was a nice and a cozy house. I saw two kids at the door step peeking at us.

"Hello, my dear children's." Kai spread his arms wide and kneeled before the kids.

"Unclee." Both of them squealed with excitement and ran towards Kai hugging him tightly.

"Welcome home ."

I saw a women in front of the door. She must be his wife .

"Oh, Yoonah... How are you? Kai said as he went to her and hugged her.

"I'm fine." she saw me in his coat shivering "Please come inside, did you get yourself drenched in rain? Come this way. Please change in this room." She said to me.

She guided me towards a room. I closed the door thanking her. I heard their conversation outside the room even though they were talking in whispers.

"Yah! Who is she? Your Girlfriend??" Alex asked. I heard Kai take a deep sigh.

"No, she is not my wife nor my girlfriend. She is a friend I met on my journey we both were heading to Busan when the train suddenly stopped here. As I'm here I thought I could visit you guys. We decided not to disclose our names and identities throughout this journey so don't call me by my name instead call me Kai and Don't ask anything to her." Kai explained them the whole situation."She is already heart broken by her family" he added.

"Ok. If you say so. We'll cooperate." Yoona said.

[After a while]

We were having lunch together. It was fun talking to them. The kids were cute.

" Um so what should I call you?" Yoona asked me. I was taken aback by her question as I couldn't come up with a name.

"Ah what do you call her bro. Let's just call her with that name." Alex suggested.

"Umm you can call her Yuri." Kai said as I looked at him shocked.

" Yuri. That's a pretty name." Yoona said with a smile .

"Let's go somewhere." One of the kids said to Kai.

"How about we go for a walk on the mountains and fields." Kai suggested. My eyes lit up at his words. I really want to go for a walk on the mountains and fields.

"Uncle we always visit mountains and fields. there is nothing new to see there. it's just trees and fields." One of the kids said groaning.

"But uncle is from city. He lives a busy life under big, big buildings. he needs some nature. let them go for a walk. They came here from far away." Alex said.

The rain has stopped and we stepped out of our house wearing our coats and walked towards the cottage house.

"Thank you." I said looking at my fingers.

"Ah. Why?" Kai asked me confused.

" You explained them my situation and asked them to cooperate." I said still looking at my fingers.

"That's fine." He said.

He smiled warmly at me.I suddenly remembered.

"Why did you call me Yuri?" I asked.

Kai turned around confused as he asked,

"Yuri?" not knowing what I meant by that.

"Before when yoona asked for my name I mean when you introduced me to Yoona that time." I said making him remember the moment.

"Ahh that? I had to introduce you. I can't use wildcat or crybaby. When I thought of a name it suddenly flashed Yuri, so I went with the flow. Why? you don't like the name?” he asked.

"Yes! I don't like that name. Please, you can address me anything you want but not with that name it's a request." I lowered my eyes. I could feel his deep stares on me, but I could not bring to look at him.

"Why? Did your ex-boyfriend used to call you by that name?"I looked at him completely not believing my ears. I ignored him and looked away.He studied me in detail.

"Looks like that's the case. Well, ok I'll not address you by that name anymore. But there's nothing I can do about it if they call you Yuri. I already told them to call you worry so endure it for one day. we'll leave soon." He said.

"That's fine, it's only for one day anyway. Is that the one?" I pointed towards a wooden house few meters away from us Changing the topic. He nooded. It started to drizzle and I giggled out of excitement.

"Don't you dare." He said as he held my hands and started running towards the house pulling me with him. We reached the house and looked out it had started to rain heavily. Kai's phone started to ring.

"Yes Yoona, We just reached. No No we reached before the down pour. No Problem." Suddenly Kai"s face turned hard.

"You sure?" He asked as he opened the door and went inside the house.I stood there not knowing what to do. I looked at the downpour. I smiled. Rain, it always annoys me when people avoid getting wet in the rain. For me, whenever I look at the sky it feels it is giving a chance to purify you. A one more chance to change your inner self, a one more chance to drain all your worries and be born into a new you. I want to get drenched in the rain but Kai forbade me to get wet. Should I just ignore him? And get out. I slowly walked towards the steps. I took a deep sigh and put one leg out to get down. A hand came from my back, gently wrapping me around my waist

from behind and pulled me against his hard chest. I stood there petrified.

"How many times should I warn you wildcat? Are you on an intent not to listen to me forever? Should I just punish you?" He whispered deeply into my ears. His voice sent a lighting throughout my body. His hands holding my waist and my back gently grazed against his half wet shirt. His sweet smell was making me slowly lose my mind. I slowly turned towards him my hands holding his shirt slightly. I stared deep into his burning eyes. My eyes studied his feature. His single monolid eyes with a burning passion inside it. A perfectly shaped nose. Without my knowing my hands slowly grazed his eyes trailing down his nose I stopped at his parted lips.

"How would it feel against min-" I noticed the ring on my finger, suddenly the whole situation and position I'm in came crashing towards me. I looked at him terrified. His eyes were closed. I suddenly backed up but he held my waist stronger and pulled me towards him pinning my both hand to my back. My body completely collided with his, he held my hand tighter keeping me close to him. He slowly leaned forward, resting his forehead on my shoulder.

"If you keep doing this, it would become more difficult for me wildcat." He whispered as he slowly released me. "Stop getting wet in rain, I understand you love rain, but if you are down with fever it will spoil the whole trip.

I understood what he meant. I looked at him apologetically.

"Ok, till the end of the trip I will not do anything that spoils the journey, fine?"

He showed his cute smile."Here . I bought coffee for you. Drink it while it's hot." he said handing me a cup of coffee.

"Thank you." I said as I took the coffee from him and drank it. I was feeling cold so that coffee did a good work. I was feeling warm now

The rain slowly stopped. We walked along the mountainous path down towards the house.

"It's really calm and peaceful here. Maybe should I just get married to a farmer and settle here."

"Then I should ask Alex to get you a farmer. Then we can get you married with him. what do you say,hm?" He laughed. I kept looking at him while walking I did not notice a small fist sized stone on the way. I unknowingly stepped on it and my leg slipped. Within mere seconds kai's hand held my waist pulling me closer to him, I clung to his shirt holding tightly, so that I could not fall. I closed my eyes, my heart beating like crazy.

"Shhh, It's ok. I'm here calm down. Nothing happened. You are safe with me." He said one hand caressing my arm and one caressing my head. Then we came back home. It was fun with him. When we're gonna part our ways it's sure gonna hurt a lot.

[At home]

Yoona and I were cleaning dishes on the kitchen suddenly she asked," so do you love him?" It was unexpected for me.

"No. What are you saying? It been only 1 day we met. We are just friends. Nothing less nothing more." I said but why does it feel like a lie and why does it feel like it's not only 1 day I have known him.

"Sometimes all we need is a minute to fall in love." She said smiling. " Sorry if I made you uncomfortable with my question." She apologized and left. I stood there thinking about Kai. Meeting him was like coming back home after a long tiring day. I found peace in him. Unknowingly in 1 day he became my safe place.
