Bo
Three Weeks Ago…………………
First, came the rain, then two days later came the missing Night Wolves. We were already under staffed and over worked here at Red Harbor Back Hospital. My girl Ria knew this better than anyone and, because our people needed us, we wouldn’t stop caring for them, even though Ria’s parents had set her up from the very beginning.
Instead of being the cause of the hospital being shut down, Ria made the hospital thrive. She had an unconventional way of doing things and I would never be more grateful to her for that at that moment. My dad had returned in the first wave of Night Wolves. They were acting strange and rabid, which was odd to them. As a nurse here, I had to do my best to assist the doctors here.
Catching my scent as they were ushered into our ward made my dad even more erratic. Moving him to a private room, Ria and I worked hard to calm my dad down. The words he spoke didn’t make sense, but it was obvious something was wrong. An incident occurred and Ria was hurt, some of her blood mixed into his wound, and poof the unexpected happened. Within a day he was cured, but made us promise to keep it secret.
We didn’t know why at the time, but soon it became obvious. Ria’s family came snooping around and asking weird questions about us and the Night Wolves. As if they were in sync, the Night Wolves that were cured claimed amnesia, but we knew there was more to it.
Ria was able to synthesize the cure without using too much of her blood. Disguised as a specialized drip, we were able to cure each wave of Night Wolves in no time. There were five waves of missing Night wolves., but it was the second wave that came in that would change my life as I knew it.
He had been following me since the first wave of wolves. He never came close, but he wasn’t too far away either. I didn’t know if he was injured like the others, but he never went to the hospital. Only appearing before and after my shifts. I wanted him to know I didn’t mean any harm, so I would leave a basket of food for him on my way to work so he wouldn’t be hungry. Was he watching over me? It felt like it, but I wasn’t sure.
My dad was finally discharged at the end of the week. We had to play the part of the spies Ria’s family sent to believe it. The mysterious Night Wolf followed us all the way home. I don’t know how I could sense him and everyone else didn’t, but not once did he show himself or attempt to harm us.
It was on that night on my way to my apartment that we would finally meet. Hiding behind a section of bushes on the pathway to my place. His scent hit me in the rain. I loved the scent of pine. I could pick up his labored breathing in the distance. He needed medical care.
“I know you’re there wolf, you don’t need to hide from me.” My senses became more alert as I waited for him to respond. The rustling of the bushes was a confirmation that he heard me, but was he well enough to speak? He was. No sooner than I thought, a dark shadow approached.
The most seductive amber eyes met mine and I fell. Well s**t! This was so unexpected. We both stared at each other. He held the now empty basket in his left hand. I left him a change of clothes this time. My older brother wouldn’t mind the loss, he only stuck to suits now, being a lawyer and all. Having left these clothes behind from his school days a long time ago at our parents' house.
The gray jogger pants and hoodie fit him quite nicely. He looked pretty haggard though. I wondered what he was hiding from. I stood completely still as he slowly shuffled his steps toward me. The temperature tonight had dropped, so I couldn’t help moving a bit to pull my red jacket hood over my head. Thunder sounded above, then lightning struck the sky. It lit up his face in the night and I couldn’t help suddenly remembering.
“Aaron?”We were face to face now. How was this possible? Aaron was supposed to be dead, but here he stood alive. That familiar smirk crossed his face as he finally spoke.
“ Long time…… no see….. Bo.” he breathed out before passing out right in my arms. He was burning up from what I could feel through his clothes. It didn’t help that it was raining, but not as much as before.
I check my surroundings for any passersby and find none. I let my wolf take over, using our strength to get him up and headed to my place. Once inside, I set him up in my spare room that Ria used sometimes when we did graveyard shifts. I had to get his temperature down. Not thinking twice about things, the nurse in me took action.
Making quick work of his hoodie, I got started on the pants. With scissors in hand, I got things done. Not a stranger to human anatomy, male or female, in my line of work, but I would have appreciated it if he at least wore the damn boxers I left him. f**k a girl could really dream some things with this body of his. Aaron really had grown the f**k up!
Taking a deep breath, I placed the scissors back in my kit, ready to move on to set up everything he would need for his care close by. In the blink of an eye, I found myself flat down on the bed, with Aaron looming over me, both my wrists were in his grasp and held down by him.
