Chapter 10 – Forbidden Desires

863 Words
The cabin was dark, shadows dancing across the wooden walls as the night pressed in around them. Maya stood by the window, her eyes lost in the darkness, her mind racing. Every whisper of wind felt like a threat, every creak of the floorboards a reminder of the danger lurking just outside. Luca’s voice broke the silence. “We’re safe here. At least for tonight.” Maya turned, her gaze locking with his. He stood a few feet away, his silhouette sharp against the dim light, his shoulders tense, his face shadowed. There was a hardness to him now, a cold detachment that reminded her of who he was, a man born into darkness, molded by violence. But beneath that armor, she saw something else. A vulnerability he tried so hard to hide. A pain that mirrored her own. She crossed the room, her heart pounding, her body moving before her mind could catch up. “Why are you helping me?” Luca’s eyes flicked to hers, his jaw tightening. “I told you. I owe your father.” “Is that the only reason?” she pressed, her voice trembling. “Or is it because of what’s happening between us?” He looked away, his fists clenching. “There can’t be anything between us.” Maya’s chest tightened. “Why not?” His gaze snapped back to hers, fierce and raw. “Because I’m not a good man. I’m part of the world that destroyed your life. The same world that took your father from you.” She moved closer, her breath catching as the space between them disappeared. “I don’t care.” Luca’s resolve crumbled, his mask slipping. His hands reached for her, hesitating before they settled on her waist, his touch firm and possessive. “You should.” Maya’s fingers tangled in his shirt, pulling him closer. “But I don’t.” Their lips met, the kiss fierce and consuming, a collision of anger, fear, and desire. Luca’s control shattered, his hands roaming her body, claiming her. Maya responded with equal fervor, her body igniting under his touch. They stumbled to the bed, their movements frantic, desperate. Clothes fell away, barriers disappearing as they gave in to the fire that had been smoldering between them since the day they met. There was no room for doubt, no space for fear. Only need, raw and powerful. Luca’s lips trailed down her neck, his hands exploring every inch of her, memorizing her curves, her softness. Maya’s breath hitched, her fingers digging into his back as she arched beneath him, lost in the sensation. Their bodies moved together, a rhythm as old as time, a dance of passion and pain. It was rough, hungry, a battle for control that neither of them wanted to win. They were lost in each other, drowning in the intensity of their connection, the world outside forgotten. After the passionate encounter, they lay tangled in the sheets, their breaths heavy, their bodies exhausted. Luca held her close, his arms wrapped around her as if to shield her from the darkness they both carried. Maya rested her head on his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart, grounding herself in the warmth of his embrace. “This doesn’t change anything, does it?” Luca’s fingers stroked her hair, his voice low, haunted. “No. It only makes it harder.” She closed her eyes, pain twisting inside her. She knew he was right. They were enemies in a war they didn’t start, pawns in a game of power and revenge. Yet here, in this fragile moment, they were just two broken souls seeking solace in each other. Luca’s grip tightened, his voice cracking. “I won’t let them take you from me.” Maya looked up, her eyes locking with his. “Then don’t push me away.” His jaw clenched, his eyes darkening. “I’m trying to protect you.” “I don’t need protection. I need you.” Luca’s resolve shattered, his lips finding hers once more, his kiss desperate, aching. Maya responded with everything she had, her heartbreaking even as it soared. They were doomed, caught in a web of lies and betrayal, hunted by enemies they couldn’t see. But at that moment, they were together. And that was all that mattered. The night stretched on, their bodies tangled together, fighting sleep as if morning would steal this fragile peace. Maya traced the scars on Luca’s chest, remnants of battles fought and survived. Each mark told a story, a testament to his strength and pain. Luca watched her, his fingers dancing along her spine. “You should rest.” She shook her head, her voice soft. “I don’t want to wake up and find this was just a dream.” He held her tighter, his voice rough with emotion. “This is real. Whatever it is... it’s real.” Maya felt tears prick her eyes, the truth of his words cutting deep. She closed her eyes, letting herself fall into the safety of his arms, even if only for a moment, just to forget for a while what they were going through.
