The conference hall was filled with students and lecturers who participated in the seminar, discussing, chatting, or shuffling papers as everyone gathered their belongings. Ella Clark is a diligent and ambitious student and one of the students at Hall University. She wished her boyfriend Steve had been there with her, but the event was for ladies only. She and Steve had been dating for about four months, and it has been the story of the school.
The Most Brilliant Girl Who Was Going Out with the Most Popular Boy was a story everyone expected except for Prisca, the self-acclaimed most beautiful girl in school, who believed that Steve was wasting his time dating Ella. Prisca had always insisted that Steve was hers for the taking. Unfortunately for Ella, Prisca was one of her roommates.
Ella and her friends were discussing the impact of the seminar when Ella noticed that her best friend, Chubby, had not come back from helping Ms. Fletcher return some of the materials that were used during her presentation. Chubby, Prisca, and Ella shared the same apartment.
It was getting late and Ella was getting worried. She has never liked Ms. Fletcher. She felt she was too bossy for a teacher and could do well as a police officer. She did not want to get in her way, so she decided to wait a little and continued the discussion with her friends.
“I am just glad that Prisca isn’t here. I am tired of hearing her boring stories of herself and her achievements,” Gracy said as they were all engrossed in what makes a lady beautiful, one of the topics of the Seminar, titled, ‘Young Ladies of the Future.’
“I am sure you cannot say that if she was here,” Ella said, laughing out loud, as did the others.
“Why not, I am only helping her ego or do you want her to cry me a river?” said Gracy, as another round of laughter hit the airwaves. They were surely having fun.
“Wait until Prisca gets your boyfriend, that girl has got no class and is damn beautiful,” said Cecelia.
“Well, I trust my Steve, Prisca, got nothing on him,” said Ella, and they all went mute. “Wait! Y'all mean I can’t trust my man,” she said as they all busted out laughing.
Ella excused herself from the lively conversation. She needed to track down Chubby so that they could go home to their apartment. Chubby had gone to the lecturer's room to stow away some seminar materials, and Ella decided to fetch her.
“What is taking Chubby this long to drop the materials at Ms. Fletcher’s room?” she asked herself.
Ella and Chubby decided that they would not stay at the hotel for the seminar so that they could get a refund. Now, she wished she had not done that, as talking and laughing with her mates seemed more interesting than whatever refund they were going to get.
She took out her phone and called Chubby several times, but there was no response from Chubby as she was already getting frustrated. If they have to get home early, they have to leave now. She wondered what Ms. Fletcher would be doing with Chubby that would have kept her this long.
“Now, what room did Chubby say that she was going to, 201 or 102?” she said to herself. If only Chubby could take her call, this would be easier.
Ella was tired and since the seminar was held on the fourth floor she decided that she would be going to room 201 before trying out room 102 in search of her friend, Chubby.
As Ella navigated the decorated hallway of the hotel building, she found herself standing in front of the doors on the second floor. The hallway was dimly lit, creating an atmosphere of quiet anticipation and beautiful images. Determined to locate Chubby, Ella scanned the room numbers, her gaze falling on Room 201.
Without a second thought, she turned the doorknob and pushed the door open. She was a little surprised that the door wasn’t locked.
What she walked into was not the sight of her friend or a room with neatly organized seminar materials, but a scene that would shatter her world. The air seemed to constrict around her as her eyes widened in disbelief.
At first, what she could see was Prisca’s face as she was giving someone a slow ride, and her nice boobs moving up and down in a steady rhythm that gave the impression that she was enjoying what she was doing and whoever she was on top with.
In a split second, as Kristy was about to leave, Steve turned and their eyes met. Ella stood there dumbfounded, she could not move as she tried to talk, and words could not come out of her mouth. It was Steve who called her name and brought her to the reality of what she had just seen and where she was.
“Ella, what are you doing here?” Steve said. It was a question but one born out of guilt. “I am so sorry she caused it,” Steve said again.
Prisca did not mind but pushed Steve's face toward hers as she intended to continue what she was doing. Steve, with disheveled hair and a look of shock mirrored on his face, quickly disentangled himself from Prisca. The room was now filled with heavy tension and the weight of unspoken truths.
There, entangled in a web of intimacy, were Steve and Prisca. Prisca was known for her cunning charm. Ella's heart pounded in her chest, the sound echoing in her ears like a painful symphony. Time seemed to freeze as the gravity of the situation sunk in. Ella stood frozen in the doorway, her eyes locked on the scene before her. The world around her blurred as waves of emotions crashed over her.
Betrayal, heartache, and anger swirled within her like a tempest, threatening to consume every ounce of composure she had left.
The three of them remained in a deafening silence, broken only by the distant echoes of conversations from the conference hall. Ella's mind raced, grappling with the surreal reality before her.
The man she thought was her anchor, her confidant, was now entwined with another. Prisca, who had shared classes with Ella and had wanted her man for a long time, finally had him in bed.
As the silence persisted, Steve finally found his voice again, but this time he was stammering as he attempted to explain himself.
"Ella, it's not what it looks like. I - - I - - I" His words hung in the air, disjointed and feeble, unable to bridge the gap of betrayal that now yawned between them.
Ella, still standing in the doorway, felt a storm brewing within her. Anguish, betrayal, and a surge of newfound strength clashed within her like thunderheads colliding. At that moment, the girl who entered Room 201 was not the same as the one who left the conference hall moments earlier.
Summoning the strength within her, Ella broke the silence, her voice cutting through the room like a blade. "Save it, Steve. There's nothing left to say." With those words, Ella left the room in tears.
Now, finding Chubby was not in her mind anymore. Something worse than Chubby’s disappearance had taken the scene in her mind.
The scenes were playing all over her mind again and again, Prisca’s moans and the satisfaction of Steve’s face.
The corridor outside seemed to stretch endlessly as Ella walked away, her steps echoing her newfound resolve. She was not going to let this slide just like that. As she walked through that corridor, she kept asking herself “Why did Steve do this to her? And why with Prisca?”
