"Are you insane?"
Carlos's sharp question cut through the morning air as I adjusted my shoulder holster. I had just informed him of today's plan, and his reaction was exactly what I had expected.
"Probably," I replied, checking my watch. "But she needs this."
"Sir, taking Miss Alejandro into the village is..."
"Necessary." I cut him off, turning to face my head of security. "She's been locked in this fortress for weeks. She needs to remember there's a world outside these walls."
"A world where her uncle has put a five-million-euro bounty on her head."
"Which is why we're taking twelve men and two armored vehicles." I straightened my tie, the familiar gesture calming my nerves.
"She'll be safe."
