A month had passed since Nadia had that conversation with her father. Things were looking up for Whitmore and CO. In just this past month she'd gotten new investors. And her dad couldn't have been prouder of his little girl. "How'd you convince them to buy stocks? We were worse than companies that were battling bankruptcy. How did you do it?" Conrad asked. He was still in the most pleasant form of shock there was. "Well dad. You know, I didn't go to business school to take cute pictures. One thing the taught me in my first year that stuck with me was- you don't sell just the product. You sell the idea behind it. Make those buyers... or investors believe that it's actually worth buying. Also, if you don't believe it yourself, it's going to be very very difficult to make them believe you" "My little girl is all grown up" "Okay old man, don't cry. It's too early. Besides, I cleared just a 5th of the debt. We still have a long way to go" "Still, in the first month that's a lot. Where did you get investors even? We're not exactly hot on the market at the moment" "I have friends from school. They're building their own companies now. And they're still very small. Our company has an overall good record and not many people are looking to invest in theirs. It's a win win" Conrad was impressed. Not in the 'Father- Daughter proud moment'. But because he was looking at the person who was saving his empire. "I'm going to lunch with Jacqueline. And I'm already late. Please tell Kate to lock up when you're leaving. Love you old man" Nadia said Jaqueline had been her best friend since 3rd grade. They were inseparable. While Nadia studied business in Paris, Jacqueline went to law school. She worked at a law firm in Los Angeles, where both of their families lived. Nadia not only worked with Mr. Bennett but also consulted Jacqueline on decisions she wasn't sure of. They met for coffee and Jacqueline went on and on about how impressive what Nadia was doing. "So, Mrs. CEO" Jaqueline teased "Hey don't do that. I'm just acting in place of my dad for now" Nadia said "Well acting or not. You are good!" "Speaking of good, how's Jace?" "He's okay. Still just office tension but he'll ask me out soon. I can feel it" Jacqueline had always been the simp, while Nadia was more of the one who never had time for relationships that went beyond platonic. They were both very beautiful, but Jacqueline was the only one people ever dared to approach. "There's this new guy I think would look great with you" Jacqueline said excitedly Nadia rolled her eyes "Again Jaqie?" "He's handsome, and successful too. Just like you" "Yes, just like the other 7 guys you've told me about" Nadia said with this tone of 'here we are again' "At least look at this one" Jaqueline said while pushing her phone to Nadia's face She took the phone and looked at his profile well. Nadia smirked because he was without a doubt very attractive. "You like what you see, huh? His name is Xavier Sterling. He's hot stuff" Jaqueline teased "He's cute Jaqie...." "Yess so I'll send his i********: to you" Jacqueline said excitedly "...but I still have a lot of work to do at WhitCo. When things get better, maybe I'll look into suitors," Nadia said. Nadia always dismissed the idea of suitors. She was always either 'too busy' or 'just not looking for a relationship at the moment'. And for some reason that attracted more people to her. Some were after her money while some were genuine. But she couldn't really tell who was who. So, whenever someone showed interest in her, she'd just assumed they were looking for a position at her family's company. Toxic, yes. But it always saved her from a lot of unnecessary hassle.
