CHAPTER 5: The Heart’s Decision

THIRD POV:
“I can't wait to be crowned the queen and Alex as the alpha king and I would be his Luna. I would stay by his side and the members of the pack would love and respect him as much as they did my father. I love him a lot and cherish him with all my heart. It was rather unexpected that I fell in love with him in a couple of days,” Laura thought
“I couldn't understand why but I knew I wanted him for myself and the pack.. It was so easy how we loved each other and all this was possible because of my best friend. I was grateful to my lovely friend, Sonia, for introducing him to me, she is the best.” She thought
The chief elder and the other elders who came to me had talked about marriage. I was initially scared and angry because I still hoped to find my mate until I met Alex. Now I can give them my reply, I finally found my choice, and I have made up my mind to be with Alex, the love of my life, the man with the key to my heart.
As she said to herself, she had a surprise visit and was told that someone was asking for her, the maiden also informed her that it was a male visitor. She wasn't expecting anyone today so she was surprised and thought it could be her lover, Alex, so she went outside quickly to receive him. As she went to the entrance she saw a different person, and it was Maxwell.
She didn't understand the purpose of the visit. She wanted to know why he came to see her, so she called him inside. Maxwell stood up in the living room and as soon as he laid his eyes on her, his wolf leaped for joy, wanting to hold her but he knew he shouldn't, but he was sure about that as he was looked at by Laura with the same eyes.
“You can have a seat,” Laura said
“Thank you,” Maxwell said, nodding his head
“Okay then, so to what do I owe this unexpected visit, Maxwell?” Laura asked.
“Well my princess, I came to ask to give you these flowers and sincerely apologize because I was unable to come to your father's burial because I was attacked by rouges” Maxwell explained
“Oh I see, I didn't know that, I hope you weren't hurt. I am so sorry,” Laura said with concern in her voice.
“No, I should be the one apologizing because I wasn't present at the alpha's burial and wasn't by your side,” Maxwell said, whispering the last part
“It is fine and besides, your father, his beta was present, so apology accepted Maxwell,” Laura said smiling at him.
As Maxwell was about to give the flowers to her, Alex walked in Immediately and saw them together. He quickly went to Laura, grabbed her by her hands, and waited to take her away from Maxwell.
But, Maxwell rushed in front of him to shield her before he could think, his wolf was being possessive of his mate, he didn't want to see another man's hand laid on Laura.
But, Laura was shocked at Maxwell's action and walked up to Alex herself as she told Maxwell to step aside.
Maxwell stared at them as they walked away for some while and was surprised, he thought that there was no man currently in her life but from what he saw he wasn't so sure about that anymore He saw Alex kissing Laura; he couldn't bear it; so he quietly left the palace.
“I don't like seeing you by his or any man else's side it seems to me that he is an intruder. I am sorry I acted that way but I love you so much and want you to be mine forever, please let me be your husband, and we will rule together, I love you with everything in me, Laura,” Alex said
Laura was taken aback by this sudden confession and wasn't expecting this kind of reaction but smiled.
“I never said that I was leaving you or replacing you with another, he's not an intruder like you said he has just been a friend, he has been for a long time now okay?, so relax and remember that I would always love you and be with you okay so don't panic my love,” she said smiling
“Okay my love I trust you” Alex replied
As Maxwell came back home he was furious at what he had witnessed at the palace. He wasn't himself anymore, he wasn't even given a chance to explain why he didn't attend the burial and confess his feelings to Laura before he was interrupted by Alex.
“I can believe that that man with no discipline or respect, just holds her hands, kissing her with no manners. She is mine!!!!.” Maxwell’s wolf ranted.
“He could have shown some respect to her. I didn't see any atom of respect or loyalty in him, he is just a fool, I could have talked to him, but it seems like she has fallen for this man, Maybe I should let her be, she has found someone else, I shouldn't cause any more trouble but I must find out who the so-called guy is, teach him some manners. He should learn to respect her. I am sure that I haven't seen him before, I think he is new to the pack, and he had the guts to interrupt our conversation” Maxwell said, talking to himself.
“What could be the problem with you cous, you seem strange today you left here with some flowers and came back home talking to yourself, and besides where are coming from?” Xavier said
“I was in the palace to see the princess explain the reason why I wasn't present on the day of her father's burial and I came with a flower as an apology gift but as I was about to give her the flower, he walked In grabbed her hands and kissed her at my presence I was so angry about the disrespect and I must teach him some manners” Maxwell explained
“Wow, that's quite weird and embarrassing, but I must advise you to stay away from the princess, I mean, I know you like her and all but she Is not your type okay? just let her be,” Xavier said.
Maxwell looked at him, surprised at his cousin's words. Xavier left, leaving Maxwell alone in the living room.
The elders of the moon pearl pack gather to discuss how to get a new king but Magnus who was the chief elder stands in the middle of the gathering and addresses them he mentions that the future Luna assured him that she would present a husband to the council of elders soon, asking for a little more time.
“So, everyone can relax, let's give our queen some and wait patiently for the new King,” Magnus said smiling.
“Okay, we will, we look forward to having a king again,” one of the elders said.
Suddenly as they were all busy amongst themselves, a voice came from another outside the gathering;
“I have found someone who is worthy to be your king and Alpha”.
